Share Your World – 2016 Week 40

     1.     Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging with the idea that I could share business ideas and how-to with those who sought knowledge.  I then moved to this blog to record some personal stories so that, in years to come, my children or grandchildren would have the stories.

Now, I have started a new blog called How to Manage Your Monkey because, from time to time, friends of my children will ask them financial and other questions but, they aren’t willing to listen to the whole answer.  They just want the Reader’s Digest Condensed Version.  I am sorry, but life doesn’t work that way.

2.     A piece of clothing you still remember?

Nothing in particular stands out.  My mother used to buy all my clothes.  She
would go for really bright polyester things.  I decided to make my own choices and select my own clothes.  That ended quickly when, even though I had the money, I found shirts priced at $20 each back in 1978.  I said, “It is far better that I look like a dork than shell out $20 of my own for one shirt.”

3.     Who are you trying to reach with your blog?

With this blog I have no particular audience in mind.  I figure I will write it and if anyone cares to read it or watch the videos that is even better.

For the How to Manage Your Monkey blog my target audience is people who are struggling with life’s problems, especially finances. It is designed primarily for young people just starting out without mom and pop to tell them what to do.  Like with everything, you have to establish a firm foundation before you build.

Christ is the solid rock, the solid foundation.  Therefore, the audience I am reaching for is whomever Christ sends to the blog.

I have turned this over to God.  I have prayed that He, and He alone, will be the judge of the blog’s success.  Even if the analytics indicate that no one is watching and no one is reading, it is all in God’s hands.  I feel led to do this and I pray He will use it to His glory.

4.     Is there a stuffed animal in your bedroom?

We don’t have a bedroom.  We have a stuffed zoo where we happen to have a bed.  My son the Marine has left his stuffed things in our care.  Dottie the Elf, Soldier the stuffed soldier, and Leo the lion.   When Xerxes died, he left behind One Spot and Two Spot (stuffed tigers), Jif the elephant, and Mouse the snake.  Xerxes had a stuffed mouse name Snake but he has been missing since before Xerxes got sick.   There is Daddy Bear; he is a stuffed bear my kids gave me because I did not have a stuffed animal at the time and they thought I needed one.  There is also Tigger, about 800 teddy bears and twice as many Eeyores.  Dog, a skunk and who knows what else.

5.     The best birthday present ever?

The best birthday present would be a quiet night at home, a good old classical movie, and a good meal, all with my beautiful child-bride Suzanne.

6.     What would surprise me about you?

Although I am a redneck, I hold a Masters degree in business.  I also collect dolls.  Not something you would expect from a redneck.

7.     Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Another stroke-free week behind us.  Another week on this side of the dirt.  I am thankful for Suzanne and our wonderful kids.  I am thankful for every scrap of food that goes into our mouths and that, somehow, God keeps providing for our needs.

This week, I look forward to getting more videos completed and more How to Manage Your Monkey posts written.

See you again next week.  Same Bat time, Same Bat channel.
