Word High July for 28 July 2016 Word halakhak

Click here to learn more about this blogging challenge.

Today’s word is halakhak, which means a loud, uninhibited laughter.  What a big word for a big laugh.    It puts me in mind of the old story-tellers like Jerry Clower, Jim Davis, or my own father, Robert Bruce McClendon, Jr.

These guys would tell stories and, even though they had told them hundreds of times to hundreds of different people, they still managed to laugh during the telling.

Often, it was like they amused themselves all over again in the retelling. Sometimes, the story-teller is the reason the story is funny or interesting, or both.

You can help us by downloading our books free.  Then, read them.  Every quarter, Amazon has a contest to determine which 100 authors in the United States have the most pages read.  If we make it into the top 100, we will share a part in a pool of money Amazon sets aside for the top 100 authors.

This August 18th, in honor of my child-bride Suzanne’s birthday, we will be giving all of our books away free.  Please download and read these books.  We have had to change the way we make money here since I suffered three strokes back in May.   We no longer sell Avon door-to door, but you can still buy it on our website .  You can also help us by purchasing things from our Etsy store.

    1. Thank you for stopping by. I don't know if you watched the accompanying video or not. It is a story that always used to crack my father up.

  2. Nice post David. The art and gift of story-telling is a wonderful thing. Grandparents seem to inherit the magic. I do hope it is passed on through the generations. Thank you for sharing.

    1. Thanks, Davy. My father's side of the family seemed to do very well at telling the stories. I am trying to get them all written and recorded so that future generations will have them, too. I just hope I am doing justice to the stories. Many of my videos are these old stories. Some are new stories. And, our most popular ones seem to be the ones that put complicated business concepts into a form that "even a redneck can understand it." The problem is, people hate ads. Almost all of them skip the ads.

    1. It is true that people are very gullible. However, he had a way of telling something so that you could not tell if it was true or not. There is a cute, true story about him and a co-worker with his tomato plants I will tell soon.
