1. Can you believe it's the end of January? What was the best day of January 2017 for you, and why?
I can believe it is the end of January already because it seemed to be very busy. That being said, I don’t know that any one day was better than any of the others. We are retired. We get up, eat, and, on every day but Sunday, we check the mail. Every Monday we go to the wound care clinic about my foot. It is pretty much same-o same-o for us.
Every year I fill out three or four tax returns. I file them for family members at no charge. It gives me something to do and it gives the others a free way to file their taxes.
2. What sounds make up the background noise in your life?
We live on the Gulf Coast of Texas. It is almost always hot. On top of that, our neighbors smoke like chimneys. Because of that, we constantly have to run the air conditioner. We also have the grandpuppy making some noises. The dogs next door make some noise. The kids next door make some noise, too. That is not a problem. When their parents are arguing, that is part of the background, too.
3. I read on the Power of Positivity website a list of ten things to drop from your life right now. They are-
anger outbursts, people who put you down, regret, negative self-talk, being a people
pleaser, the notion you need to be perfect, the past (but keep the lessons learned!), gossip and judgment, comparing yourself to others, and the word hate (focus on what you love instead)
Which thing on the list do you most need to drop? Are you trying or will you try?
I am just slightly more positive than the late Dr. Norman Vincent Peale was when he was alive. I TRY to always look at the positive side of things. I learned a long time ago not to care what other people thought of me. I try to remember that; sometimes it isn’t easy.
I think maybe comparing myself to others would be something I do but shouldn’t.
4. What is sacred to you?
Our Heavenly Father, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Suzanne, the kids. All of these are sacred to me. On a lighter note, bar BQ. It drives me nuts to hear someone say they are going to bar BQ some steaks or hamburgers, etc. You GRILL hamburgers and steaks. Bar BQ means you cook the meat slowly on a fire, usually wood, with some type of sauce. You do not let mustard get anywhere near your BBQ.

Other people take their mustard-based mistakes just as seriously.
5. January is National Oatmeal month. Are you a fan, and if so how do you like it?
I like a good bowl of oatmeal. Sometimes I have it with raisins in it. Once, when I was half asleep, I accidently put coffee in the oatmeal. It was pretty darn good.
6. What feelings does twilight stir up in you?
In our house, Twilight is the purple pony Princess of Friendship from My Little Pony. Our kids are big fans of the series. Suzanne and I like it because it is important to them. Once I thought I was going to have to have a word of prayer with a disc jockey in Houston for making fun of a young man with autism because he was a super fan of the show.
7. Something you're looking forward to next month?
By this time next month, we should be through helping our friend with his project. Hopefully by then we can get our lives back to our normal state of abnormal. Sometime this month the bluebonnets should start to bloom and, the Good Lord willing, we can see lots of them during the last of February and all of March.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
We were supposed to help a friend with a major project. He has found a little more help, so our part won’t be as difficult, but we may still be late posting to the Memes like Share Your World, Wednesday Hodgepodge and Friendly Fill-ins.
Rest assured we aren’t ignoring you.

On a side note, does anyone remember Everyday Ruralty? That was the blog with all the great posts from Wendell the horse.
One of Patrice’s daughters wrote a book called Call me Luciano . Check out the book and maybe order you a copy, or two. Have a great week.
