Book Review: TAKE THAT cANCER

TAKE THAT cANCER is a very heart-tugging book. Deliece Hofen tells the story of how her family bravely faced the battle to save her son, Braden. The story takes us from the time she lost her daughter just 15 short hours after she was born to the present. Along the way, she had to fight arrogant doctors and their staffs. Along this journey, the Hofen family had to fight for treatment and fight they did. You will see a story that mixes a little Bruce Lee, Clint Eastwood, Chuck Norris, and 82nd Airborne with some Mother Teresa and Norman Vincent Peale. This big, dumb redneck spent most of the time he was reading it holding back tears. Not only did this mother have to fight cANCER in her child, she found out she had cANCER too. She had lost her mother to the dreaded condition and her brother-in-law had died years before she met her husband, During this time, a host of people came to assist Braden. This group became known as Braden’s Army. Army members prayed and offered support. Some brought food while others offered services. Many could only pray. Little Braden is the Five Star General leading this fight. His mother Deliece is the General’s Aid who constantly fights to avoid wearing the “Huggie Jacket”. Proceeds from the sale of this book go to support Braden’s Hope, a 501 (C) (3) organization. No one in Braden’s Hope receives pay. The money goes to research finding a cure for childhood cancer. Wouldn’t it be great if TAKE THAT cANCER were to sell a million copies? Imagine the message that would be sent to whatever forces in the universe are behind this dreaded disease. Imagine a world where all the retailers who sold this book donated all proceeds they received from the book to Braden’s Hope. Normally, I recommend that you borrow books from the library to save money. In this case, I recommend that you buy as many copies as possible. Let’s make this book a million seller and in so doing say “TAKE THAT cANCER.
