September 19Somethin’ Challenge Day 14
Well, here we are. This is the end of the second week of the September 19 Somethin’ Challenge. Are you playing? Stop by Suzanne’s place and get the details. Play along and see if you remember the 70s and 80s.
Today’s question is:
Did you get into any of the toy/game crazes, such as the Rubik’s Cube, Polly Pockets, or Cabbage Patch dolls or anything like that?
No! I would not fight the crowd for all of them at their heyday. When we had the Western Auto Store, we had to order the Christmas toys in May. We ordered several cases of the Cabbage Patch Dolls. They were so ugly that we figured we would only need a few cases.
When the order came in, there was one doll. Just one. How do you decide who to sell it to?
I remember seeing people lined up to pay $125 for those ugly things. Not me. I love my kids and would do anything for them but, there ain’t no way on God’s green earth I would stand in line for ANY toy.
What about you? Would you stand in line for one of those toys/
See you again tomorrow.
I attempted to get my niece a Furby many years ago. I waited in a long line to get into Walmart when it opened at 5 or 6 am on Black Friday. Unfortunately, I didn't move fast enough so I didn't get one.
ReplyDeleteWell, you are more patient than me. I would not stand in line for anything like that. My kids stood in line for a DVD a while back. Not me.
DeleteWhat about auctioning it instead? I wonder how that would have worked out.
ReplyDeleteCould you picture that auction?
DeleteIt would have been a mad house, for sure.
DeleteIt was always a mad house. I think we were the madhouse.
