September 19 Somethin’ Challenge Day 16

We are on the downhill side of this challenge.  Yesterday, we reached the halfway point.  Today, we are on day 16 which is the other side of the halfway point.

Today’s question is:

Who was your favorite TV character? What did you like about them? Who did you like the least?

In reality, I have two favorite TV characters from that time period.  That is Roy Desoto and Johnny Gage from Emergency.  This was a show about LA County’s paramedic program.  They often called themselves “rescue firemen”.  It is odd, at that time my brother really wanted to be a rescue fireman.  I thought it was cool, but did not think of that as a life’s ambition.

Then, my friend Al Todd suggested that I join the Iva Rescue Squad as a junior squad member.  I worked myself up through the ranks and became Junior First Lieutenant.

My brother never bothered to join or take any of the training.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Johnny and Roy are running rescue calls and saving lives. 

My favorite episode is called Snake Bite.  The reason it is my favorite is that Johnny and Roy, along with their EMT friend Chet, are on vacation.  They happen upon a wreck and have to call an ambulance.  


The ambulance that was dispatched doubled as a hearse, which was often the case back then.  Later in the episode, Johnny is bitten by a rattlesnake after Roy has left in a helicopter to take their patients to the hospital.  They, of course, make the snakebite more dramatic that it actually would be in real life.
