September 19 Somethin’ Day 02
My beautiful child-bride Suzanne is hosting a meme for the month of September. Come join us by going to McClendon Villa or PS Annie! and getting the question for the day.
Today’s question is: What is the first video game that you remember playing? Were you good at it? What game system did you play it on or was it in an arcade?
I was first introduced to the world of video games though the fascinating game Pong. I had never seen a video game before and all of a sudden we had hundreds show up at my family’s Western Auto Store.
My father ordered these games and, when they came in, I had to figure out how to hook them up and then play them. We had a system set up to demonstrate the game. I had to play that game for hours on end to show it off. It was boring after the first hour.
Kids today would run screaming into the night if they had to play that game constantly for more than five minutes. I was very good at it. However, it was so simple even a parent could play it. At that point in time, I had never seen an arcade. They really did not come into vogue until after the games got better.
Games have sure come a long long way since Pong :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I can't play most of the new games. 3-D is too much for me. I play Polar Bowler now and that is about all I know how to do. I used to love Slingo, but I hate to play with other people because I want to play the game and not chat with other players.
DeleteThanks for playing along and helping to promote this challenge. :) I vaguely remember Pong.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome. I think it is a fun challenge. You were just a baby when Pong came out.
