September 19 Somethin’ Challenge Day 29

We are on our next to the last day of this challenge.  I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have.  We have learned a lot about each other and had a great time, I know I did.  Well, anyway, if you haven’t played you can still make one big post and answer all of the questions.  Pop over and see my beautiful child-bride and get the questions.

Here is today’s question:

Were you into Star Wars or were you a Trekkie?  Both or neither?

Really, neither.  My friends and I waited until you could actually get into the theater before we went to see the Star Wars movie.  The movie was good, but there was no way I was going to stand in a line around the theater to buy tickets.

At that time, the original series was all there was to Star Trek.  I like The Next Generation much better.  There are better story lines.

When I was in college, I interviewed the sound effects guy from Star Wars via telephone.  He was a pretty cool fellow.  The tape was ruined by a jerk of a pizza dude who showed up during the interview.  He was there to deliver a pizza to two guys who were not there yet.

I saw the first two episodes 4 & 5 at the theater. My daughter has seen all the Star Wars Movies.  I have known people who read all the books.
When we had the tapes rented for some of the movies, I would walk through the room while my kids were watching them and catch a glimpse of what was going on.  The movies can be fun.

  1. I was into neither, but when I was dating my hubby he had me watch all the Star Trek movies and original tv episodes as well as TNG. I truly enjoyed them all. He claims Star Wars is just fantasy so he has no interest- I think flying around in Space on Star Trek is fantasy too, but no explaining it to him :)

    1. Are you aware that Star Trek was the inspiration for cell phones? Flip phones were invented because the original inventor was a Trekkie. He wanted us to have transponders.

E-readers were introduced on The Next Generation. They had devices that looked strangely like what the Kindle became and Picard explains which classic he is reading. This was in the 1980s.

I like them both, but not enough to stand in line to see them.
