We were contacted by a public relations company for this book. We were asked if we would review the book and we agreed. We were sent a book free of charge so that we could review the book.
Our blogs are Christian-based blogs and, therefore, anything we recommend must be Christian friendly. Whereas this book, The Penny Jumper, does not have any sex scenes in it, they are alluded to. It does not use the Lord’s name in vain, but it does have several curse words in it.
Were it not for the curse words and the allusion to sex, this book would make a good young adult book.
I do not normally read fiction. However, since the description of the book spoke of stock purchasing, I thought that maybe it would be an interesting read.
This is not the kind of book that keeps one riveted to their seats. In the beginning there appeared to be a glaring plot hole, but the author addressed that.
It does take a surprise twist that I was not expecting, but with that, there were still a few unanswered questions which made it hard to accept the outcome.
On a scale of one to five, I would probably give it a three. The writing is good, but it is more in line with what I would expect in a young adult book and not what one would expect from an adult book.
