Here are the fill-in-the-blanks:
1. I have a hard time finding a gift for Nobody..
We cannot afford to buy gifts for anyone.  We are on a very fixed income.  This means that by the time we pay our monthly expenses there is literally nothing left with which to purchase gifts.  Our kids are all grown now.  They know not to expect anything.

This is very sad.  The saddest time this occurred was one year at Easter, there was no money for Easter baskets.  We explained to the kids the real reason for Easter. They all understood.

However, our oldest daughter scraped together her Easter baskets from years gone by and little toys and made Easter baskets for the others.

2. I have no problem finding a gift for again, nobody..

We are so broke we can’t even afford to pay attention.  We have two girls in college and there just is too much month left at the end of the money.
3. One of the best gifts I ever gave was It is a long story.  I don’t mind tellin’ it..
Many years ago, way back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, my family owned a Western Auto store.  We sold stereos and were constantly looking for something new to play on them to demonstrate the stereos.  I mean, there are just so many times one can listen to Don Ho singing Tiny Bubbles before one loses one’s lunch.
My mother brought her favorite album to the store.  It was a collectors’ edition of Tom Jones Live from Caesar’s Palace.  My mother loved to hear Tom Jones sing.

My father was the world’s number one salesman.  He would do anything to close a deal.

Well, he was closing the deal on a stereo, one of those cheap disco machine kind with the rotating mirror balls with multi-color lights that were so popular with us taste-deprived rednecks way back when.

The person bought and my father decided to sweeten the deal by throwing in the album they had been listening to.
My mom was not happy.

Fast forward about six years and I was living in Columbia, South Carolina.  I searched through all the used record stores I could find and finally found a like-new copy of the album.  I gave it to my mother.

4. One of the best gifts I ever received was Suzanne. .
On 3 November 1984, Suzanne’s daddy gave her to me.  This was the second best gift I ever received.  The best gift I ever received is the gift of Salvation.  Father God gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to save us all of our sins.

  1. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, I always enjoy your answers. I am sorry you can't afford gifts, but you already know they don't matter. I do like the gift you gave your Mom of the album, that was thoughtful.

    1. Thank you for dropping in and commenting. You are right, the best thing is love. Too many people have forgotten the spirit of Christmas. It is all about the buck.
