Share Your World – 2016 Week 52 Happy New Year

What’s your favorite ice-cream flavor?

I like butter pecan, but my favorite is vanilla.  Just plain ol’ vanilla.  There are times I have put a little nutmeg on it.  That was good.  But, really, I just like the simple things in life.

If you were to treat yourself to the “finer things” what would you treat yourself to?

My child-bride Suzanne is the finest thing in my life.

I am a simple man.  To me, shrimp, ribeye steak, baked potato, salad, fried catfish.  A good book, leather bound is good.

I don’t need fancy cars, fancy homes, wine, pedigreed dogs, etc.

Have you ever been drunk?

Yes, twice.  The first time was on my nineteenth birthday.  I had a house in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  At the time, I was attending the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg.  Two friends from Starr, South Carolina, came up to help me celebrate my birthday.

We had Delmonico steaks (a very cheap cut of meat) and potatoes.  They served me their version of a screwdriver, which was mostly vodka with some orange juice and a splash of cherry juice.  The second time it was vodka with a splash of orange juice.  The third time it was vodka only.
I puked up everything I had eaten for the last few days.  Then, I got the dry-heaves and my body found something to throw up that looked like things maybe I would want in later life.

I could only eat Cream of Wheat after that for the next week.
The only other time I got drunk was when I bought a six-pack of Michelob Light from the 7-11 across from my dorm at the University of South Carolina main campus in Columbia, South Carolina.  I drank it all.

Before that, I would drink maybe a beer or two, no more.  In the last 30 years, I have drunk a total of 9 beers.

Complete this sentence: My favorite supposedly guilty pleasure is…

White chocolate Kit-Kats.  I am a diabetic, so I am not supposed to have them, unless I am having an insulin reaction.  We only buy them from time-to-time.  We try to limit sweets in our house.
A trip to the local barbeque place called Taste Woods is a guilty pleasure, too.  It is fattening and loaded with cholesterol.  The big thing is the cost.  It simply is not in our budget.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I am thankful we had our two girls home for Christmas. We were also able to Skype with our Marine.

I am also thankful for the donations we have received for Suzanne’s GoFundMe for her eye surgery.  We still have a long way to go.

We were able to find a surgeon who uses a monitored local.  This means he has anesthesia administered through an IV.  When the patient exhibits signs of anxiety, he can add more anesthesia and get her to Twilight Sleep.

This week, I am looking forward to putting 2016 behind us.  I am also looking forward to more donations toward Suzanne’s Eye Surgery.  In some cases, a gift such as this is tax-deductible (consult your tax adviser).  I am hoping that maybe some people will want to give before the end of the year.  This will help us out immensely.

We wish all of you a very safe, and Happy New Year.
