Wednesday Hodgepodge 14 December 2016

Come on and join us for the fun over at Joyce's place. For more information, click the image below.

Are you more task oriented or people oriented? Elaborate.

This really depends on what you mean.  I am retired so, it is just Suzanne and me.  We have certain tasks we have to take care of.

Back in the day, I had to deal with people.  Inevitably when I had to work on a team, at least half the team dropped the ball.   It seems that it is difficult to motivate people to accomplish things.  All the companies I worked for frowned on beating them to a pulp for some reason.  I think I would still have to say I am task oriented.

December 15 is National Wear Your Pearls Day...do you own/wear pearls? If you're a man answering the question, does your sweetheart own or wear pearls?

I gave Suzanne a set of pearls for a wedding present.  She wore those pearls for our wedding.  We really don’t have any reason to dress up.  She has no opportunity to wear them.  And, unless I missed my guess, she cares nothing for going to an event where pearls would be appropriate.
Everyone share a 'pearl of wisdom' with us here today.

Take care of the ones you love.  Wear sunglasses with a good UV protection.

Speaking of pearls...oysters? Are you a fan or not a fan? If you answered yes, tell us your favorite way to eat oysters? If you said no, be honest-have you ever tried one or does just the idea of eating an oyster make you gag a little?

I am from the South.  In the past, it was pretty much required of me to eat oysters raw.  My father was a redneck.  When I was a young teen, I went through “The Initiation”.  You can let your imagination run wild with what that involves, but it took place at an oyster eatin’ with our whole family present.  There were a lot of jokes told at my expense.

I don’t like oysters served any way.  Fried is like chewing rubber and raw is like eating snot.

Time Magazine has named President-elect Donald Trump
Person of the Year. Let's take presidents and presidential candidates out of the mix for a minute. If a political figure had not been chosen who would you name Man or Woman of the Year for 2016?

This is a good question.  I assume you mean someone that is famous, that others would know.  I got nothing on that.  In my life, my beautiful child-bride Suzanne is the person of the year.  Without her, I would not be here.

The
Pantone Color of the Year for 2017 has been announced, and it's a vibrant green aptly named-greenery. Your thoughts? Is this a color currently in your home or wardrobe? Will you add something in this shade for the new year? Click here to see the color.

This one is out of my paygrade.

Today I've had too much_
sadness_.

Yesterday we found out that Suzanne has cataracts in both eyes.  Without surgery ,she will slowly go blind.  We have no money for surgery.  We have no insurance.  This is all sad.
Share a favorite lyric from a favorite Christmas carol.

Joy to the world, the Lord is come.

Insert your own random thought here.

I mentioned above how Suzanne needs cataract surgery.  Could everyone please pray for her?  I have set up a GoFundMe account for her.  It is going well but we still have a long way to go and a short time to get there.   Please, if you are able, give to this fund.  Thank you all for your prayers.

The fund is going very well; God is good.  But, we still need more.  We collected $690 the first day.  If we could just keep that going for a while, we will make it.

I have checked into all the programs I know about.  We have several people looking into things for us.  The bottom line is we need your help.  Please pray.  God is good and He will take care of this.   See Suzannes post from yesterday to see what I mean.

This is a wrap.  Thank you all for all you do for us.

If you would like for me to pray for you, please drop me an e-mail by clicking prayer.

  5. You're correct. I don't have any desire to go to a fancy dressup party. I love my pearls, but I can wear them here at home or at the cemeteries, which are way more exciting than most parties for me. :)

  8. Praying for you and your sweet bride. Tell your sweetie to get those pearls out and strut them around town. Pearls are appropriate with everything in her closet, I wear mine with my jeans to Walmart. They were a token of your love for her, just like that ring you put on her finger...and besides, they feel so good against the skin. When the time comes to pass them down, they will have a lot more meaning if the recipient has fond memories of your sweetie wearing them. I will keep your go-fund-me in my prayers too.
    Best Regards,
    Lori in Blue Ridge, GA

    1. I am sure she values them well. We live in a high crime area. It would not be safe to wear them out. According to the FBI, one is more likely to be the victim of a violent crime in our small town than in New York City.

    1. Thanks. It is odd how I came about buying them. I was having a customer's car aligned and had some time to kill. I walked from the shop to the main square in Hartwell, Georgia. There I stumbled upon a jewelry store.

For some strange reason I bought the string of pearls. I did not know if she liked pearls or not. I just bought them. This was after the bridal pictures were made but before the wedding.

Have a great weekend and a Merry Christmas.
