We were given this book so that we might review it. Evil Speaks is geared towards teenagers. The book deals with mythology and the legends
and stories of old.
A group of teens with various disabilities are joined
together to fight against the powers of the underworld. There is one point in the book that implies
the use of the Lord’s name in vain but does not outright say it.
As Christian bloggers, we would be remiss if we did not
point out that although this group of teens is fighting a group of little g
gods, at no point in time is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob ever
mentioned in the book.
For Christian parents, we suggest, if you let your teens
read this book, that you read it before giving it to them and that you discuss
your views and that of your church regarding mythology before your teen reads
the book. Your church might find problems with the book.
We cannot rate this book any higher than a two because we
feel it might be misleading for those who are at a very important stage in
their lives where beliefs are formed.

ReplyDeleteSuzanne and I had a U.S. History teacher back in high school. She used to say, "Eyes calls em likes eyes sees em." She gave students the grade they earned. We try to do the same. Thanks for commenting. Have a great week..
