When we review a product such as a book or movie, we look at
it through the eyes of Christians. We
have to ask ourselves, “Is this something a Christian should be reading or
watching?”
When we are sent children’s books or movies to review, we
have to ask ourselves if this
Will subjects like mythology confuse someone who is
struggling to understand God? Does the
book or movie contain suggestions of inappropriate behavior or language?
Do the main subjects behave in the way that is appropriate
for a Christian to behave?
When we review books and movies geared towards an adult
audience, we judge the content on things such as the appropriateness of the
content for a Christian to be reading or viewing. Or in movies, do the main characters conduct
themselves the way Christians should? Do
the actors and actresses dress modestly?
We look for products that provide a good value for the money
and actually deliver what they promise.
Often companies will send us review copies of their products
so that we can read them, watch them, or try out their products.
Usually these products are sent free or sometimes at a
greatly reduced price.
Our opinion is not influenced by how we get the
product. Our U. S. History teacher at
Crescent High School was once asked why she would not change a grade to help a
student out. She responded, “Eye calls
’em likes eyes sees ’em.” She was
quoting an umpire she once heard explain his controversial call during a game.
Well, like Mrs. Pennington, we call ’em like we see ’em. If you know your product will not stand up to an honest review from a Christian viewpoint, perhaps you should not send the product.
