Share Your World 29 May 2017

Watch the following video and witness the amazing miracle of a baby Carolina Wren taking its very first flight!!

What is the most famous landmark or building you have ever seen?

I really don’t know about the most famous one.  We have seen many places like that.  I would say the Alamo would be very famous.  It was interesting being there.  We had to wait several hours just to get out of the parking garage after seeing it.

Do you like long vacation or lots of mini-vacations?

We have not been on any vacation since we have been married unless you count when we evacuated from Hurricane Rita.
Way back in 1987, Suzanne and I went to the Western Auto Trade Show in Kansas City, Missouri.  We were there to buy a computer system for the store.  That was about as close as we came to a vacation before the evacuation.

We would love a little mini vacation every now and then.  Something where we could just drive and shoot pictures.  That would be fun.

What is your favorite National or State Park?

I like all the ones I have been to.  Brazos Bend State Park is close by here and it has lots of cool stuff.  But, we are too old to go there because the alligators are right along all the hiking trails and we are too old and slow to hike it now.

I like Stone Mountain.  I think it is a state park.

What is your fantasy vacation?

There was a point in time I would have said going on a cruise.  However, now I would view going on a cruise through different eyes.  We have seen where the ships have lost power so you could not flush the toilets and the A/C did not work.  So, in the words of Lou Holtz, “Going on a cruise is a lot like going to prison, except you have a chance to drown.”

Now, I would say the Biltmore Estate in the fall of the year.  Like mid-November.  Then, to stay in a cabin in the woods on the mountains and see the beautiful leaves.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

We are now past the one year mark for my strokes. I am grateful to get past that.  I am grateful that I have my child bride Suzanne by my side and I am very grateful we have a yard full of birds and squirrels for us to watch and take pictures of.

This coming week I look forward to my 55th birthday (June 6). Back when I
was a teenager, I never expected to live beyond my thirties. I just could not imagine ever being THAT old. Now, looking back, thirty is very young.

I have been doing a lot of reading about retirement planning.  Those who are not yet retired should seriously think about it.  We need to set aside money for our retirement years.  One great book I found is Master Your Cash Flow.  Check it out and learn how you can live the life you want now and still save for retirement.

  1. That parking garage was no fun at all. I hope to never endure that again, though I would like to re-visit the Riverwalk some day. I love you, my Zing. :)

    1. It would be best to find a hotel to stay in so we could park in their garage and walk to the River Walk. I love you. Zing! Zing!
