Here are the fill-ins:
1. I challenge everyone to Pray this week.
I know almost everyone on this meme is a praying person. I just could not think of anything else to challenge people to.
2. I regret disposing of practically everything I did not know what it was.
You know, you are cleaning out stuff and you see something that you have no idea what it is. Later, you find something that would work perfectly except it is missing one small part. That one part is the thing the trash man has just left with.
3. I have a difficult time admitting I am no longer 17.
I have some young friends that are as young or younger than some of our kids. I often tell them that my 17 year old brain wrote checks my 55 year old body can’t cash. It did that back in the day and also that same brain still is doing it to my 55 year old body today.
4. If I were given a psychic power, I would like it to be mind reading.
It would be great to know what the other person is thinking all the time. We could avoid a lot of problems. But then there would be new ones, too.
Sometimes the problems would be caused by being able to know what they are thinking. It would be a gift and a curse.
I would like all of you to pray for a friend of ours. We will leave the name unsaid because our friend has not given permission to do so.
This friend recently lost a family member and, at last word, had a friend who was terminal. Please pray that this friend has the strength they need to withstand the loss and other things going on in their life.
We down here in the trenches of being poor find it easy to believe that money will fix all of our problems. It is easy to think, “Gee, $250k would solve all my problems.” Then, we see others who have problems that no amount of money can fix and we know that money might solve some problems, but not all.
In a recent meme, we were asked what would we do if we won the lottery. The lottery is more of a curse than a gift. We have worked in stores where the lottery was sold. So many people put their hopes in the lottery thinking that some day they will win, if only they play hard enough.
If they took that same money they were spending on the lottery and put it into savings, they would make their own lottery.
Thank you all and please remember to pray for our friend.

Regarding #2, all the more reason to just keep everything and not throw out anything. :)
ReplyDeleteOr just throw away the thing that needed to part to begin with. I love you. Zing! Zing!
DeleteThank you for these great answers. I pray daily, but I will add a prayer for your friend and to meet your challenge.I understand #2, if i had a dollar for every time I have done that, I would be rich. Mind reading would be interesting, but would probably cause a lot more problems. Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ellen. I am sure our friend thanks you for the prayers as well. Reading minds could be a gift and a curse at the same time. I am sure many fights would take place when people knew what others were actually thinking.
DeleteI understand about being a 16 year old in a 58 year old body. I still don't recall it happening.I would not want to read people's minds. My intuition seems to tell me enough that is difficult to process. I do pray. It is more of an ongoing chat with God. He gets me.
ReplyDeleteReading minds is one of those things that would be difficult to deal with. We would learn what people truly think about us, which may or may not be a good thing. Have a great week.
DeleteOh I so know about throwing something away and then realizing it could have been useful, but by then it's too late. Mind reading could be an interesting thing but I'm afraid it would cause more problems than anything else.
ReplyDeleteI will say prayers for your friend.
Have a great weekend!
I can't count the number of times I have thrown some unknown object away only to realize, too late, that it was an important piece of something else. Have a great week.
