This challenge is based on Kenny Chesney's song "Back Where I Come From". Suzanne over at PS-Annie! and McClendon villa has included home-and hometown-related questions to round out our 30 days of posts.
Come on and join in. It will be a blast.
Today’s question is:
5. Where did all the kids "hang" in your hometown?
There really was no place to “hang” in my hometown. Some kids would hang out at the parking lot. The parking lot was the parking lot from where the railroad depot had been in town. When it moved, everyone just started hanging out there. I did not hang out there. Most of the times kids would drive into the county seat, Anderson, and hang out at the mall, go roller skating, go bowling, or go to a movie.
Some of us guys in the Junior Rescue Squad would hang at the squad hut. We would practice our first aid. We would practice everything we could. Our extrication team for the squad practiced all the time, too. They were the best in the state. They won countless awards for SCARS (South Carolina Area Rescue Squads) competitions.
Our extrication team could roll up on a wreck and have all the victims on the way to a hospital in under six minutes. It was like they were a machine. Like the Borg on Star Trek; they were all of one mind.
If you would like for me to pray for you, please drop me an e-mail by clicking prayer.

Can you tell that I'm biting my lip/sitting on my hands here? I have something to say about that whole "one mind" thing, but I'll be good. haha
ReplyDeleteI love you, my Zing. :)
I understand what you are trying not to say. I love you, my Zing!
DeleteThat is impressive that you and your friends practiced rescue instead of other teen activities.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It was better than getting in trouble.
DeleteWe just learned this morning that our rescue squad mentor from back then was killed by a hit and run driver on Monday. So sad.
