This challenge is based on Kenny Chesney's song "Back Where I Come From". Suzanne over at PS-Annie! and McClendon villa has included home-and hometown-related questions to round out our 30 days of posts.
Come on and join in. It will be a blast.
Today’s question is:
8. How old were you when you took your first drink of alcohol, if you ever have? What were the circumstances surrounding that moment?
I took my first drink at about 7 or 8 years of age. My parents both drank and did not care if I did. At first, I did not like the taste.
When I was about 16, I started drinking the occasional beer.
The first time I was ever carded was on my 18th birthday.
18 was the legal age for beer back then. I was carded in my father’s best friend’s store.
On my 19th birthday, two friends came up to my house in Spartanburg, South Carolina. They fixed me their version of a screwdriver. It was mostly vodka with a little orange juice and a splash of cherry juice. The second drink was vodka with a splash of orange juice. The third drink was just vodka.
The next morning, I threw up everything my body could find. Then, I got the dry heaves. After that, I threw up two things that looked like something a young man might need later in life. I threw up some more.
I cannot look at vodka anymore without wanting to puke.

Yikes, I can see why you can't look at vodka anymore.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I am missing anything. We don't drink anymore.
