1.
On New Year’s Eve, we like to watch the ball in Times
Square drop.
Every
year since the second year we were together, Suzanne and I have celebrated the coming
in of the New Year watching Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. We weren’t able to celebrate our first New
Year’s together because she was only 16 and in the hospital for a tonsillectomy. Even though the guard and I were good
friends, he could not let me be on the pediatric ward that late.
2.
One goal I have for 2018 is get well.
I know
I sound like a broken record, but I have been fighting this same foot ulcer for
over 20 years. I am staying off my foot
as much as possible, but it just doesn’t want to heal.
3.
In 2017, I accomplished lots of reading.
One thing
that having to stay in one place sitting on my rear end has meant is that I have
gotten lots of reading done. I don’t
know how many books I have read. Not all
of them are on Goodreads because some of the ones we get aren’t listed there yet The last time I looked, Goodreads said over
200.
4.
I have had to rely on Suzanne even more in 2017.
Right
now, I need her help to eat and go to the bathroom since I am sort of tied to
the bed most of the time. I have two IV
spouts in my left arm and one vacuum hose in my left foot so, getting around
takes lots of coordination and lots of assistance from Suzanne.
People.
if you are healthy, praise God. Also,
look into obtaining Long Term Care Insurance.
It can mean the difference between receiving care in a hospital or being
parked in a nursing home. Believe me,
the hospital is better. A nursing home
is almost like a prison. I have a friend
who has been in both. He says prison is nicer. Think about it. Going to a
nursing home is not a choice most would make if they really had a choice. Long Term Care insurance, you can’t afford to
be without it.
