Here are the fill-ins:

1. A balanced budget is one of my personal goals.

This is easier said than done.  There always seems to be something that stands in the way, like that repair bill, the extra item that just has to be purchased.

2. I love to listen to old music.

The other day Suzanne looked up the top pop tunes from the years we have been alive.  Most we remember, some we don’t. What song from your past stands out the most?

3. I have a hard time dealing with some of life’s changes.

It was difficult when I became blind because I could no longer drive.  I had been driving on the public roads since I was twelve. Once, when I was twelve, I had to take the Chief of Police from our town back to the station while our shop crew fixed his car.  He asked me how old I was. I told him the truth. He told me not to drive outside of town because he could not protect me there. Small towns are great.

4. Public speaking is easy for me.

I have had to speak in front of large groups of people off and on for as long as I can remember.  Some of you may remember back in 1979-80 when there was a rash of people dropping dead in dentist chairs.  I was a C.P.R. instructor for the American Red Cross back then. I was a high school student at the time. I received a call after school one day.  The local dentists wanted a C.P. R. course, that night. It was to be over 100 (I really don’t remember exactly how many it was, but they filled the auditorium in the teaching wing at the local hospital).  There wasn’t any other instructor available so they called me. I called the Junior Iva Rescue Squad and we went that night.

Everyone please pray for the families of the Marines who died in the helicopter crash out in California.  The helicopter was from our son’s base.

Also, I am very proud of my beautiful child-bride Suzanne.  Not only is she beautiful, she is also mechanically inclined.  Yesterday she removed the entire headlight assembly from our 2011 Ford Fiesta.  She then installed a new low beam bulb and put the whole thing back together. She tested the lights and they worked just fine.

If you would like for me to pray for you, please drop me an e-mail by clicking prayer.

  1. David,

A balanced budget is a happy budget. Those emergency purchases tend to put a kink into your well laid plans, doesn't it? Are you completely blind? My memory fails me. I love old mewsic, too. I found myself lost in the early 70s yesterday on YouTube and pulled together some random treasures to include in today's post. Small towns do have perks and most kids 12 year olds, especially boys knew how to drive. I remember my brother driving an old Jeep Daddy near our house. He was younger than 12, though. He'd stomp the pedal and hit the break hard when he got close to the highway. It always worried me that someone would turn off the road about the time he reached it. I believe God had His hand on JC. I'm impressed with your public speaking at such a young age. Getting up in front of group made me more nervous that a cat on a hot tin roof when I was younger. I'm not sure how I'd do today. I enjoyed reading your fill-ins. Oh yes, I will say prayers for the Marine's family. How sad! And...this is man was from your son's base? That's hitting close to home. Have a good weekend and please say a prayer for our oldest daughter. She's expecting, not married, and has some medical issues. God knows everything. Thanks so much, my friend and God bless!

  2. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, I always enjoy your answers. That crash was awful, I feel bad for the families of the men that died, I saw that one was a new father. I did not know you were blind, that must have been very hard to adjust to. You are rare in liking to speak in front of large groups, that is something most people dread the most. I am still too sleepy to think of any songs, sorry. Have a nice weekend.

    1. I am legally blind but not totally blind. I can usually read large print books or use magnifiers. I think I don't mind public speaking because when I was a young teenager we had a store where we had to interact with customers a good deal. I don't mind speaking in front of a crowd as long as I have a reason to do so. When I have gone to public meetings, I only speak if I have something to say. Have a great weekend.

  3. A balanced budget is a goal here, too. Then something breaks or someone gets sick!

Congratulations to Suzanne on using her mechanic skills!

    1. Yes, Suz is full of surprises. When the bulb went out, she watched a YouTube video and then was ready to take the front of the car apart. Back in the day it was much more simple. It seems that our budget always gets hit with surprises, too. Have a great weekend.
