The Questions and the Answers
1.Describe your 30's in one sentence. If you're not yet 30 tell us one thing you hope to accomplish once you hit that particular decade.
That can’t be done. When I was in my thirties we had the last three of our children. I was working hard and getting nowhere fast.
2. Is it harder for you to exercise or eat healthy?
Let me wipe the bacon grease off my hands before I answer that. I really don’t exercise like I should. We eat as close to healthy as we can.
3. June 7th is National VCR Day. Huh? Anyway this reminded me of something I saw on Facebook listing household items we no longer have and the VCR was on it. I couldn't put my hands on that list, but found another list here of 21 items we all had ten years ago, but which are now obsolete-
bookshelves (WHAT!!???), drip coffee makers, alarm clocks, file cabinets, desktop computers, printers, printed phone books, answering machines, fax machines, paper shredders, a Rolodex, CD racks, CD burners, china cabinets, home phones, entertainment consoles, DVD players, calculators, takeout menus, incandescent light bulbs, and cable TV
Your thoughts? How many on the list do you still have? Still use?
We don’t have a china cabinet and we don’t have cable television. We have thousands of books here in this house so, we have bookshelves everywhere. We even have bookshelves in the carport.
We have an old 500 phone. This is one of the original rotary dial telephones. Yes, it is black. We have everything else on the list in one form or the other.
4. What's something you see disappearing in the next ten years?
Over the next ten years, we will probably have just streaming movies. Wired internet will probably be completely gone, too.
5. How did you celebrate your birthday this past year? Is that typical?
Today, June 6, is my birthday. I plan to sit around, eat, sleep, read a book, and eat cake. Nothing too exciting.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
We live in a completely different world now than what it was when I grew up. We had bullies, but we dealt with them. We competed in things. We did not need someone else to fight our battles. We did not post about how hard it was to do anything.
We did not post about our lives anywhere, except maybe in a diary. We did not have to have television 24/7. We did not need to have music blasting in our ears 24/7. We did not need to wake up every time our phone dinged. We did not have to post 24/7. We did not post pictures of ourselves dressed in next to nothing. We had some self-respect.
