New Friday_Fill-In_Badge

*****I will try to get some fill ins filled in, I will not promise anything. I am not going to try answering comments.

Here are the fill-ins:

1. I could use some suggestions for I don’t know.

2. I never refuse Suzanne’s deviled eggs.

Suzanne makes then with that good Duke’s Mayonnaise.  I have heard that some people use other stuff, but they aren’t really Southerners.

My aunt even suggested that my Granny-For-Short actually used Miracle Whip and French’s Mustard. I assure you my Granny-For+Short was a Chrisitian and good Southern Baptist. She would not have used such sacrilege on her debiled eggs.

3. I hope the South  never changes.

All of the questions this week required a lot of thought.  Of course, I hope Suzanne never changes and that the Fill In’s never change as well.

I hope the South never changes. Texas is a whole other country.  It isn’t the same here. Here, a mild-mannered person changes to a raving lunatic just because they got behind the wheel of a car.

4. I would rate Friendly Fill-Ins a 10 out of 10.

Have a blessed week, Y’all.

Many Strokes Fell Great Oaks. But Not This Time.

Wow! What a week we have had!

It started last Thursday morning when I got up to call our youngest daughter, Maggie, to wake her up in time for class.  The call was very short.  When I hung up the phone, my wife asked if I was OK.   I wasn't.

My wife, Suzanne, and my oldest daughter, Laynie, helped me to the bathroom.  I was having slurred speech and could not walk.I got less slurred in my speech.  So, we thought everything was okay.  Then, I tried to stand up and could not.

Suzanne helped me get dressed and we tried to make it to the car so she could take me to a doctor.   I made it halfway through the carport and fell on her.   Laynie called an ambulance. It was very hot laying there on that driveway.  The ambulance arrived and started to take me to Oakbend Medical Center in Rosenberg, Texas, on Jackson Street. The paramedic radioed the ER and the ambulance was diverted to another hospital, Oakbend at Williams Way, because the original hospital could not see me right away.

The Emergency Medical Team rolled me through the ER straight to CT scan.  I was back in the ER within minutes.  There, I learned I had had a TIA, which is like a temporary stroke.

This TIA was followed by at least two more strokes.

We have had to change life around here somewhat.

We had to stop selling AVON locally like we used to.  You can help us and buy a great product by purchasing online at https://smcclendon.avonrepresentative.com/

We will celebrate our oldest son's 30th birthday by offering our books free on June 5th. David's 54th birthday will be June 6th and the books will be free then, too.   Please help us by downloading and actually reading these books on those days and then providing an honest review on Amazon.com.

We are learning more and more each day about life after a stroke.  What we have learned is that cholesterol and salt are not your friends.  Limit those and take a baby aspirin every day. Drink plenty of water each day.

The following book was suggested by one of the people commenting on Suzanne's blog, PS Annie!
It is an affiliate link. If you click this link and purchase this book, we will receive a commission, and you will be helping to support our family during this time of transition, this life after stroke. Thank you for your support!

Book Review: Team Building with Clear Results for Busy Managers by Nauris Svilka

This is a very quick read. In fact, the book in PDF form is only 59 pages. The first part of the book spends an enormous amount of space telling the reader why what the book has to say is important. This is sort of like a preacher preaching to his congregation regarding the importance of attending church. These people already know how important it is; that is why they are there. This being said, the book is a worthwhile read. After the sales pitch about why the book is important is over, the book does not waste any more of the reader’s time. From that point forward, everything is presented in a quick, easy to understand manner which makes the book very readable and enjoyable to read. I got so involved in what the book had to say that I did not realize how close I was to finishing it when I read the last word.

The book provides the reader with five, easy to follow exercises that will aid the business manager in very inexpensive, simple exercises that can be implemented practically anywhere. Team members would not feel like their intelligence has been questioned when managers utilize these exercises. If the reader implements the suggestions made in the book, it is quite probable that team members would not realize that team building had taken place.
