Goodbye Bagel Bites

Today we wished Bagel Bites well as she entered Rainbow Bridge.  She was one of a set of twins.  We have no idea what happened to her sister.  One of the twins was Xerxes’ mother.

It was not unusual for Bagel Bites to disappear for many days at a time so we were not terribly worried when we did not see her for a while.

Cats are amazing and very fragile.  When Suzanne went out this morning, she was met by Callie, one of Bagel Bites' young'uns.  Callie was meowing, which is very out of character for her.

Bagel Bites and Her Daughter Callie
Callie was trying to tell Suzanne about Bagel Bites.  Suzanne found Bagel Bites in the ivy beside our driveway.  We can’t be sure what happened to her, but it was apparent she had been there for a while.

We always have cat funerals.  Each cat funeral is attended by all, or at least most, of thecats in the yard.  They do this on their own, without any prompting.  They sit while we bury the deceased cat and stay put while we sing Amazing Grace and say a prayer for the kitty.

Bagel Bits will be missed.
