Wednesday Hodgepodge 08 June 2016

Wednesday Hodgepodge - 8 June 2016

1
1.      things you should do in June. I'm paraphrasing a little but basically...

Go on a road trip with your best friend, pick fresh strawberries, host a garden party, take a morning run, treat yourself to a flower bouquet, spend a whole day hiking, discover a new coffee shop, try a new ice cream flavor, read at least one book, visit a Farmer's Market, make a swing for your home, and visit a new city.

Which thing on the list do you most want to do? Of the activities mentioned, which one holds the least appeal? How many on the list will you attempt in June? What's one thing you'd add to the list?

I can’t imagine making a swing big enough to put my house in LOL.  I would love for my child-bride Suzanne and I to go on a road trip.  I have no idea where we would go.   I don’t like parties, so a garden party is a no go.  If I pick fresh strawberries, I might get a snake, so I will avoid that.  I am just a common man, so I don’t like fancy coffee.  I read several books a day each day.   I love farmers’ markets, so that is one I would love to do.   I hate cities, but visiting some small towns would be great.  You learn a lot from out-of-the-way museums in small towns.   Go to a small town and visit the chamber of commerce and/or a local museum and have fun.
2. What's something you could do today to feel more peaceful?

I live about as peaceful a lifestyle as one could get.  Praying and meditating are definitely ways to be more peaceful.  I could sit back with a bowl of strawberries and watch water (river, creek, stream, etc.) go by.

3. June 7th is National Chocolate Ice Cream Day. Are you a fan? Swiss mocha, rocky road, chocolate chocolate chip, peanut butter and chocolate, or a dish of plain chocolate...what's your pleasure?

Again, I am just a common man.  I like good old fashioned vanilla ice cream.  If I am going to have chocolate in it, chocolate chip is about as bold as I am willing to go.   I love peach ice cream.  Good old vanilla ice cream on a warm peach or blueberry cobbler is just about right.

4. If you came with a warning what would it say?
It would probably say, "His bark is worse than his bite."   And a note to doctors, “Never ask a redneck to 'squeeze your hands as tight as you can'.”
5. What's the most interesting website you've visited in the last week?  Good question.  I don’t go to websites other than financial.  They are all same-o, same-o.  I guess Netflix for My Little Pony or Hotel Transylvania 2 is about as interesting as I got.

6. Spring, summer, autumn, winter...which season are you? Why?

I like Spring.   It is the time of new beginnings.  I like the idea of wild flowers and fresh fruit.

7. "You lose sight of things...and when you travel, everything balances out." ~Daranna Gidel

Would you agree with that sentiment? Explain why or why not.

I could see that this would be a fresh way of looking at things.  You travel and see how other people live.  For some, they never see how hard it is for other people just to get by.  For others, they see a different, less stressful life.  For me, I think that it is easy to get caught up in the same-o, same-o and that a new perspective is always helpful.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

We are starting into week 2 of life after stroke.   I am getting better and better, but still have a way to go.   We had to stop doing mobile notary and that is a bit different.  We had to stop the door-to-door Avon and go with Internet only.

Our books will be free again on 26 June 2016 in honor of our baby’s 21st birthday.  Please don’t buy it at full price when we will give it to you free.

Life is short, live it to its fullest.   Eat right.  Avoid salt and cholesterol.   Show your loved ones you love them.  I plan to make lots of recordings to carry on the family stories.  If you have a family story you wish to share, please leave a comment below.

  1. Dropping in as your Hodgepodge neighbour. Your video didn't seem to want to load for me but enjoyed reading your answers and your graphics. You seem to be doing well after your stroke. I hope your recovery continues well.

  3. Praying your recovery continues to get better with each and every passing day. Watching water flow by is my idea of a perfect day, too!

  4. I love small towns and villages too. We live beside a very small town and they have a town history museum that I want to pop in. The hours are unpredictable, but the building looks like one of those old small train stops. I'm glad you continue to improve. Take care.

  5. LOL! You sure you don't want to make a swing big enough for your house? :) Your warning label for doctors also made me smile.

Sorry to hear about the stroke. Hope things will continue to get better for you.

    1. Thank you for stopping by. I got out a day early by hurting the doctor. He sent a different doctor to discharge me.

  6. Now your answer about the swing was the funniest! Nobody seems to want to make a swing, but to even think of making a swing for your home is hilarious! I'm glad you are doing better. Are you wanting to collect stories from outsiders or family members?
I love creeks and brooks and rivers that move along quickly. The sound of the water is soothing ... Can also be terrifying. I love it when the book of Revelation describes His voice as the sound of many waters.
