In the meme Friday 56, bloggers are asked to turn to page 56 of whatever they are reading, or to 56% if they are reading in an e-reader, and give a quote about whatever stands out to us. It is a fun meme and you should come be with us.
Well, for today’s Friday 56, I find myself reading RealChristian Businessman: 30 Day Field Manual by Don Mencke on the free KindleReader on my laptop.
It is very interesting that at the top of the page is a quote from another book I recently read, Take The Stairs: 7 Steps to AchievingTrue Success by Rory Vaden.
In this book, Vaden says
“Success is never owned. It is rented. And the rent is due every day."
The point of all this is that if we are to be successful, we have to keep plugging away constantly to remain successful.
However, too often we measure success in dollars. To me, true success is when someone has a spouse that loves them and a family that sticks together through all the hardships and the good times. The person spends quality time with the family. As long as we have a roof over our heads and food in our bellies, the rest, financially speaking, is insignificant.
In this book, the author talks about how we should turn off the communication devices when we are away from the office and have down time with the family. Don’t check the office email and don’t answer the office cell phone.
This author believes that there is life outside of work.
In this day and time, we see men climb the ladder of success and leave the spouse that was there for them through the struggles for some silicone airhead. I like the Pluggers cartoon that says
A Plugger married his Trophy Wife 40 years ago.
For me, it was almost 32 years ago, 3 November 1984. But still my child-bride Suzanne is my trophy wife.
I feel that even though we barely get by financially speaking, we are successful because we have each other.
What do you think? What is your measure of success?

Today, in honor of our angel baby Dorian’s 23rd birthday in heaven, we will be giving all of our books away free. Please download and read these books. We have had to change the way we make money here since I suffered three strokes back in May. We no longer sell Avon door-to door, but you can still buy it on our website . You can also help us by purchasing things from our Etsy store.
Special Notice
You can help us by downloading our books free. Then, read them. Every quarter, Amazon has a contest to determine which 100 authors in the United States have the most pages read. If we make it into the top 100, we will share a part in a pool of money Amazon sets aside for the top 100 authors.
Please also give us feedback on our books and leave your honest review at Amazon. We thank you.
