Share Your World - 2016 - Week 35

List 2 things you have to be happy about?

I am most happy about my child-bride Suzanne.  She is here for me always.

Well, I woke up this morning on this side of the dirt.  That is usually a good thing.  Those days I wake up on the other side of the dirt don’t go so well.  So far, there have not been any.

If you could take a photograph, paint a picture or write a story of any place in the world, what and where would it be?

I think one of the most beautiful places on earth is the mountains of North and South Carolina in the fall.  That is when the leaves are starting to turn and the apples are in season.  That is a great time of the year and a great place to be.

Should children be seen and not heard?

NO! I remember once I was talking to a young preacher at the church I grew up in.  He had one young boy about 2 or so that neither he nor his wife could keep up with.  At that time, we had 7 children living with us.

My youngest son came up to me and wanted to tell me something.  I bent
down to listen to him and answered his question.  The preacher got on to my little boy for interrupting.  I told this preacher, in no uncertain terms, that I was far more interested in what Davey had to say than ANYTHING he had to say.  I went on to tell him that I would discipline my children whenever I thought it was warranted and he should mind his own business.

I went on to point out that he could not keep up with one kid when I knew exactly where all of ours were.  I told him he was an amateur and he should leave the child raising to the professional.  Until you get to your third or fourth young’un, you are an amateur.

List at least five of your favorite first names.
Suzanne, David, Whitney, Maeghan, Maggie, Jared, Elizabeth, Bruce, has anyone seen that list of baby names we have around here anywhere?

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am very grateful I made it past the 90 day mark after my strokes with no additional strokes.  This is a crucial landmark.  I am grateful for my child-bride Suzanne and all she does.  I am grateful for my young ‘uns and all they mean to me.

We live in a world of same-o same-o around here.  I am, however, looking forward to the start of Suzanne’s September 19 Somethin’ Challenge.  That starts this week.  Also, in the next few months I hope to roll out the How To Manage Your Monkey course in life recipe.  Keep those frugal recipes and budget tips coming in.

  1. David, you guys have 7 kids?! WOW, I somehow missed that bit of info. lol I thought for some reason you had just three. Oh, silly me! You are experts and I loved your story about the preacher. I don't think it's anyone's job other than the parents to correct their kids with the exception of grandparents, but never someone outside of the family. Your story telling video about Suzanne's cakes made me want cake. That's so not cool. lol Tell Suzanne to rush one to East Tennessee fast! :D Thanks for sharing your thoughts today. Have a good evening!

    1. We have four children, two sons and two daughters. The others were foster kids. There were four of them for a while and then one got to go back to her mother. There were six girls and two boys and then later five girls and two boys.

We no longer hear from the fosters. No telling what they are up to. Our oldest son is a chief petty officer in the Navy, our oldest daughter is an anthropology major. Our youngest son is a Corporal in the Marines. Our youngest daughter is in the honors college and a theatre major. She is in the technical area of the theatre and is also going into teaching. Imagine having your teacher teach while looking like someone from a slasher movie.
Suzanne used to make them from scratch. Now, we don't get cake as often. There are only two or three to eat them here now.
