September 19 Somethin’ Challenge Day 12
Are you still with us? Are you enjoying the September 19 Somethin’ Challenge? Can you remember the 1970s and 80s? Swing by Suzanne’s place and get the details and join us here.
Today’s question is:
When did you first have a microwave in your home? Were you afraid that it would make you sick or did you embrace this “new” technology?
We first got a microwave in about 1974. When we got it, a microwave was not unusual. I never thought of it as not being safe. I remember coming home from school and putting two slices of bread in a bowl with chili and cheese on top of that and “Zapping” it. It was a great snack.
Since we sold microwaves at the store, we were always experimenting to see what we could cook in the microwave and do a good job. It took a while, but we finally got scrambled eggs right. I am still trying to find just the right method for cooking bacon in one. I may have to try it about 1,000,000 more times. Just to make sure I get the bacon right, you know.
Have you ever cooked a steak in the microwave?

Pop on back here tomorrow.
I have not, but I also don't think that I'd want to risk it, either. If it turned it all rubbery, then there's a wasted steak. That would be about as bad as wasted shrimp or...dare I say it?...Bacon!
ReplyDeleteYep, anyone who would waste bacon should be shot. Zing Zing.
