Share Your World SYW Week 36

Share Your World – 2016 Week 36

Hello, everyone, and welcome to this week’s Share Your World.  We hope Labor Day was a friend to you and that your world is going great.  This meme is always fun.  Come and join us.  So now, without further eloquence, here are my answers.

If you were given a boat or yacht today, what would you name it?  (You can always sell the yacht later)

Well, if we were given a boat, we would have to sell it.  Suzanne does not like the water and can swim, but really does not feel comfortable doing it.  I would not enjoy being out on a boat without her.  If we were going to get a boat, I would want a pontoon boat out on Lake Hartwell on the border of South Carolina and Georgia.  I would name it Child-Bride.

Child-Bride is a term I picked up from my father’s cousin, Senator Strom Thurmond, who in private referred to his wife Nancy as his child-bride.  The press was having a field day, even years later, with the fact that he was so much older than she was.  He loved her and he affectionately called her that.

Suzanne is only three years younger than me, but she was only 14 when we first met and was only 15 when we first started going together.  I was 19. Since she was only 19 when we married, she is my child-bride.  The boat’s name will be Child-Bride.

Which of Snow White’s 7 dwarfs describes you best?  (Doc, Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Grumpy, Dopey) Plus what would the 8th dwarf’s name be?

I think it would be easier to name the ones I am not like.  I am not normally bashful or sneezy.  The others would sort of be me.  Back in my EMT days when I would work events as an EMT, I was sometimes called Doc.  I am generally a happy person.  I am never bashful.  Since my strokes, this medicine makes me sleepy all the time.  I wake up and then need a nap shortly.  I am often grumpy.  Dopey describes me a good bit of the time.

If I were to name an eighth dwarf, who would fit me to a T, it would be Goofy, just like the Disney dude.  If you have ever seen him ski, that is how I used to ski.  If you have ever seen him on roller skates, you have seen me.  And, I actually used a line Goofy used when someone referred to his son Max as being little.

A lady at our church seemed to think that our oldest son, who is less than average height, did not know that he was less than average height.  He was standing next to me.  I am/was 6’ 3”.  She just blurted out, “You’re short!”  I responded, “Short? He is twice as tall as I was when I was half his size.”  She acted surprised and said, “Oh, well, he may be tall yet."

Name a song or two, which are included on the soundtrack to your life?

Let’s start out with the theme from Caddy Shack. It starts out, “I’m alright, don’t nobody worry ‘bout me.”  Then, we will go to the movie, I think it was called Roady.  I never saw the movie, but I heard part of the sound track. There is a song, I think by Cheap Trick, that is called Everything Works if You Let It.  There is a part that says, “He’s the world’s world’s greatest at the work that he does.” I am not egotistical; I am just sure of myself.

Okay, you said one or two, but I have one more:  Makin’ It.  This has been a song that has run through my mind most of my life.  It is by way of encouragement.

When I was in high school, I actually sung the song It’s Hard to Be Humble by Mac Davis all the time. When I was a senior, people would come up to me and ask something and I would give them an answer and I would add, "Oh Lord it’s hard to be humble, when you’re perfect in every way.  I can’t wait to look in the mirror, 'cause I get better looking each day."  I did not really think that, but I loved to see peoples’ reactions.

Complete this sentence:  I like watching…

There is an animated movie named Hotel Transylvania 2 that I love to watch. It is a story of a human man who marries a vampire girl and they have the cutest little red-headed baby. It is a great family story that I think everybody should see.

Hotel Transylvania 2.  It is a movie about a human man that marries a vampire woman and they have the cutiest little curly redheaded baby. It is an animated move by Sony.  It is a good family movie.
Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

One more week stroke free! We heard from our Marine.  He and his ship are still safe and sound.   No word from our sailor.  He is in the silent service and is usually out of communication with the world.

Everything in our life is pretty much same-o- same-o.  There is not a whole lot to look forward to around here.  But, that means no drama either.  Since the strokes, I usually just sit in this chair, type on blogs, and read books.

I am also working getting ready to roll out the How to Manage Your Monkey course.  We hope to have it live 3 October 2016.  That is the 42 anniversary of the Grand Opening of Western Auto in Iva.

We had what is called a soft opening before that.  If you don’t understand the concept of a soft opening, it really means that in the final days of getting merchandise and equipment in place, you start selling to whoever wanders in.  The expectations are low because you aren’t officially open. People feel like they are among the Select Few who got to buy from you before you were open.

Cashiers get to get a little practice at a slow pace.

Customers during our soft opening became lifetime friends.

Check out our post on Call me Luciano.  I think you will enjoy this book.
