The more I read regarding personal finance and budgeting, the more I realize
how important it is. If someone had taught me early on that credit is a trap that is very hard to get out of, we would not have gone down that slippery slope, maybe.
2. The last item I donated was hats and scarves.
Suzanne knits and crochets up a storm. When I have the ability, I loom knit. We have donated a good many items to various charities. We used to operate a couple of charities. One, Littlest Lambs, was dedicated to providing handmade items to children’s charities.
3. My (personal) song is Oh Lord It’s Hard to be Humble by Mac Davis, because I am a very egotistical, self-centered person .
When I was a senior in high school, I actually went around singing this song. I had just gotten contact lenses, had my hair styled, and updated my clothes. I was a senior, in the band, on the drama team, and I thought I was hot stuff. More recently, I am more likely to sing Everything Works if You Let It by Cheap Trick or I’m Alright from the movie Caddy Shack.
4. Three things I am thankful for this week are we heard from our Marine and it is Marine Week, my foot continues to heal, and our youngest daughter won her debate.
It is Marine Week. Today is also Veterans’ Day. We are very thankful that we
live in a country where we have the right to vote. We have to leave the outcome in God’s hands. This country has seen a great division over this very strange election. Now is the time for us to put it behind us and pray for our newly elected leaders.
Our Sons, Jared the Sailor, David the Marine |
If all goes well this Monday, I will have to endure only one more week in this cast. Then, hopefully, I can get out of it. We are thankful that our baby child won her debate. We are not happy that she was mocked for her speech impediment during the debate by her opponent. She handled it well. She has been harassed by supporters of one of the candidates because she did not choose their candidate. She was actually stalked by the dude. The kind people at Starbucks provided her with an escort to her classes after that. Go, Starbucks.
We would like to wish everyone a very safe weekend.

#1 I agree completely!
ReplyDelete#3 Yeah, well, I love you anyway. :)
Suz, one of the things that makes me perfect in every way, is you.
DeleteDavid, you have such great answers. You just tell it like it is. My thanks to all military veterans! I was in NJROTC, but health issues prevented me from pursuing a career in it.
ReplyDeleteI agree, finance should be taught in school. Everything from balancing checkbooks to how to set up finances for the future. It is important. Your donations of hats and scarves is really important, too. Thank you both. I had to laugh at your song choice. My stepdad used to sing that, which was funny, because it was so NOT him! He and Bill played guitar and sang country music together. Your blessings are good ones! Yea!
Thanks. I started singing the song to annoy my sister. She thought I was lacking in all areas. She was appalled that her low opinion of me did not affect me.
DeletePersonal finance is very important. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Sounds, like you have a very strong daughter, it is a shame that she was harassed.
ReplyDeleteShe is a fighter. She has had to sell her blood just to eat since she has had her bank account hacked several times and she did not get as much financial aid as she needs. She has been awarded work-study but they have not assigned her a job yet. She is taking 21 semester hours and is on the Dean's list in the honors college.
DeleteThank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I agree personal finance should be taught in schools. Those are wonderful things to be thankful for. Glad your foot is healing. I am impressed you can use a loom. Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and commenting. Suzanne and I had an Etsy store, but that didn't fly. Now, we just create for the fun of it.
Deletei totally agree that budgeting should be taught in schools! The banks would be sad but people would be a lot happier!
ReplyDeleteIt is possible that the banks would benefit, too. If people understood more about credit and the high costs, maybe there would be fewer defaults.
DeleteI agree with #1. I actually remember taking a class like that and enjoyed it but I don't recall if it talked about credit. It did make me think about the importance of money. I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. I'm glad she won her debate but hate to hear about her being made fun of and also stalked. I'm hearing of so many horrific things being done to people who voted for the president elect.
ReplyDeleteI thank your sons for their service! Happy Veteran's Day (sorry I'm late)!
In this, she was not for either major candidate, neither were we. To us, neither one was a good choice. Personal finance is poorly understood. I worked in the collection branch of the credit bureau and saw many self-inflicted credit problems. I had been a victim of the same poor credit education.
