Gosnell
By Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer
Let me preface this review by disclosing first that we were sent a review copy of Gosnell free of charge by either the publicist or the publisher; I do not remember which.
Let me further disclose that Suzanne and I are extremely pro-life. She has always been pro-life and I started out being apathetic because I was clueless. This began to change when, while I was in college, I visited a Planned Parenthood office and interviewed an official there for a recording project for one of my courses.
All of that being disclosed, let me tell you that this book takes neither side. One of the authors claims to have been turned off by the pro-life movement back when she was in college.
This book is not about pro-life or pro-abortion. It is about the wholesale murder of babies who were born alive, sometimes intentionally, allowed to live for a while, and then killed.
This book is not about the pro-life movement or anyone’s agenda. It is about a case where officials in Pennsylvania raided a medical facility looking to close down a pill mill and found so much more.
Pennsylvania is a very abortion-friendly state. The presiding judges sought to ensure that the case was not about abortion, but only the doctor’s blatant disregard for human life, including the lives of his adult patients.
If you are the least bit sensitive, you should NOT read this book. If you are pro-life, you will cry as you read each and every page. If you are pro-choice, you may find yourself questioning how such gross disregard for Gosnell’s adult patients could have gone unnoticed.
No matter which side of the issue you are on you will wonder why an abortion facility was allowed to continue operations with facilities that were so filthy. If a gas station in Texas was serving coffee to its customers in such a filthy environment, they would be shut down on the first visit. In Pennsylvania, facilities littered with cat poop and human blood, vomit, and urine are clean enough to provide surgical care.
I cannot recommend you read this book because it is such a hard book to read from an emotional standpoint. However, if you like to read about crime, psychopaths, and human suffering, you will get all of that in this book.

There is no one right answer to any business question that will cover all circumstances.
Abortion has become a "business" that those who support it seem to ignore. It's not considered a child anymore...just an annoyance.
ReplyDeleteYou are right about that. This doctor made his patients suffer so he could make more money.
DeleteI will pass on this one, it sounds very disturbing.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you. If I had not agreed to review the book, I would not have read it. It was very difficult to read.
