Friendly Fill-Ins 6 December 2017

This is a fun meme co-hosted by McGuffy's Reader and 15 and Meowing. Be sure to visit and join in the fun!

Here are the fill-in-the-blanks:

1. I have seen Jerry Reed and Waylon Jennings play in concert.

I had two friends, who between them knew everything about every song ever
Suzanne and Papa
written.  Lin, is legally blind.  His father installed 1,000 foot radio towers.  Tommy had worked as a disc jockey.  Somehow, between the two, they had gotten three free tickets to this show.  We went and it was a good concert.  There were many empty seats.

2. I would like to attend a no_ concert.

I don’t like crowds.  I used to work security at the University of South Carolina Gamecock football games.   There were 60,000+ screaming fans at those games.  I cannot picture myself doing that now.

I don’t want to stand in line for anything.  Not to buy tickets and not to wait to get in to a concert just to sit beside Bubba and his BO.

I can’t think of any performer I want to see anyway.

3. In the dead of Winter, we run the air conditioner full blast..

Seriously, it only gets mildly cold here.  This week, we will have highs in the 80s, with a low of 28.  The 28 is unusual.  If you really want to see something odd, you can go to the stores around here when it gets down into the 70s and see people bundled up with heavy coats with fur around the hoods, knee-high snow boots with fur around the tops, and SHORTS.  Yep, their legs don’t get cold.

4. The main ringer on my cell phone is AT&T Tone 3.

I used to go all out and make special ring tones for the phone.  I had Suzanne’s ring tone set to Stevie Wonder’s I Just Called to Say I love You.  I had my bossman’s tone set to “A big old pile of shift work’.

Now, I have a phone that is many years old.  We use the prepaid GoPhone plan.  This costs us $33.08 per month as opposed to the hundreds we were paying.  We have 4 cell phones, one with data, for less than $150.  Before, this was costing us well over $300.

If, by main ringer you mean the main caller, that would probably be our baby child.  We usually talk once a day when she is on the Island.  Other than that, doctor and bill collectors.

Thanks to those of you who have donated towards Suzanne’s eye surgery.  Thanks also for those who have blogged about it and/or posted it on social media.

  1. I love that photo of me with your daddy. :)

    1. I do, too I think he wanted me to marry you almost as much as I wanted to marry you.

  2. David, that's interesting how drastic your day and night temps are from each other. We're under a system through tomorrow morning with very cold temps and a slight chance of precipitation. Actually, I just looked outside and it's snowing now. It's really pretty. I don't think we'll get much accumulation, though. What I'm afraid of is the roads getting very slick mainly leading into our subdivision. Say a prayer for DH to make it home ok this afternoon. Y'all have a good weekend and saying prayers for money to be raised for Suzanne's surgery. I shared the request on FB and Twitter. God bless!

    1. It is a wide range. Here on the Gulf Coast, it is normal to blow the heater in the morning and the A/C in the afternoon.

  3. David, one more thing...if you send me the GoFund widget then I'll put it on my blog.

  4. Than you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I would have loved to hear Waylon Jennings in concert. We have phones that pay as you go and only add $10 when needed, we have had them so long that they save the minutes forever. We still have a landline so we rarely use the cells.Have a nice weekend.

    1. For $33.08 a month, we can get unlimited texting and talk. Have a great day.

  5. I think we could get along with pay as you go as well. We hardly use the phones we have, and rarely use data. I am sure it is a waste of money.

    1. The only phone we have data on is Suzanne's. If it were not for keeping in touch with the kids, we would have little need for a phone. Have a great weekend.

  6. If i didn't have to maintain phones for six of us, plus a spare for use as the home phone, i'd save a good bit of money every month. Enjoy your warm weather!

    1. We found that we saved money by using GoPhone. We had a calling plan for five phones. With our Marine overseas, we can't call him except with Skype, which is free.

  7. We are supposed to have snow tomorrow. If we do everything will shut down. Since you once lived here you know what the grocery stores were like today. Go Cocks!

    1. I was joking with Suzanne yesterday when we were having a light snow. I said, "I guess we need to go buy some bread, milk, 'loney meat, and eggs." We were never snowbound in South Carolina for more than an hour or two, but everyone acted like they were going to be shut in for months if it snowed.

  8. I used to love going to concerts, but now I don't like crowds or waiting in line for anything either.

Hope you have a great week!

    1. We are the same way. It is bad enough going in the Walmart these days. I cannot imagine standing in line for tickets. Have a great week.

  9. Is a "no" concert as opposed to a "Yes" concert, who finally made it into the Rock Hall of Fame. At least music in that era had a message...a real message...now, I am not so sure. I like the classic rock, folk, and country. Words are powerful to me. Prayers continue for you both.

    1. Thank you for your prayers. Music has gotten worse and worse, in my opinion, as the years have gone by.
