Share Your World – January 2, 2017

Would you prefer to receive a unicycle, bicycle, tricycle or motorcycle?

I have no business being on any of those.  However, if I were going to choose one, I would choose an adult-sized tricycle.  I remember years ago, our drum major, Ken Anderson, rode a unicycle around during band camp.  It was cool.

I am doing good these days to walk.  I think it would be pushing it to try one of these others.  I have only been on a motorcycle two times in my life.

What is one thing you’d like to accomplish this year?

I would like to get Suzanne’s eye surgery completely funded and
completed.  It would be good to be able to get her sight back to normal again.  I would also like to find a way to take her to all the places she wants to go to photograph.

What was one of the highlights of 2016 for you?

Surviving it.  I had three strokes.  People, let me tell you.  When someone has a stroke, even though they might not be able to communicate with you, they still know everything that is going on.
I am very thankful that I have Suzanne by my side.
Would you prefer to fly a kite or fly in a hot air balloon?
I think flying in a hot air balloon that was tethered would be great.  Back in South Carolina, we were directly in line with the end of the runway, although several miles away from the airport.   When the county had balloon fests, there were a few that made it to the field near our house.  This was cool.  I think flying in one would be cool if we could control where it was going.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
We really did not go anywhere or do anything last week.  It was one of those odd weeks because everything was closed Monday.  This week, I am NOT looking forward to having to take our baby child back to the island.  She is a unique individual.   It would be great if we could have all three of our young’uns here at one time.

People, our goal in our GoFundMe for Suzanne is an audacious goal.  This is doable if all of our friends will help spread the word.  If those that can will contribute to it, we could wrap this goal up soon.

We have hit a temporary stall right now.  We are hovering at $720.  Please, won’t someone give a few dollars to get the ball back rolling again?  Every little bit helps. GoFundMe gets 30¢ and 7.9% from every donation.  If you would prefer to give it via PayPal, that is okay, too.

We would like to wish you all a Happy New Year.

  1. Wouldn't we be quite the sight, pedaling our shiny red tricycles through the streets of this town? :)

  3. When I was in my coma, I was aware of what was going on around me. Maybe not in the detail you had. But my memory of what happened to me while I was comatose is amazingly accurate.

    1. Back in 1976 when I was in a diabetic coma, I knew everything going on around me. I knew which shift was on. I could hear the chatter around the coffee makers. I knew they called me the baby. I was in ICU and was 14 years old. I could tell when my doctor was there and when my mom came to visit. But I could not respond.
