Here are the fill-ins:

1. An Easter (or Passover) tradition I have is nothing really.

In years gone by, Easter meant hunting Easter eggs.  We usually would go over to Granny-For-Short’s house and have Easter lunch.  It was usually ham and all the side dishes you can imagine.

Our family fell apart when Papa Bruce died.  We have all been spread around everywhere.

There was a time when we would go to church on Easter Sunday.  Everyone would be dressed up in their new Easter clothes.  There really is no church home for us out here.  Church just isn’t the same out here.
2. My favorite flavor of ice cream is vanilla.

I know that sounds boring.  But, it is what I like.  I like Blue Bell Ice Cream.  I do like chocolate, butter pecan, and a few others.  Blue Bell makes some cobbler ice creams.  One is blackberry.  It is very good.  Another is peach; it is very good, too.
3. One of my favourite Easter/Passover memories is...                                             We are a  VERY poor family so the explanation is below.

There was one year, many years ago, when there was NO money for the
Easter Bunny.  The babies were still at that age when they believed.  Well, our oldest daughter knew there was not going to be an Easter Bunny that year.  So, she had been saving candy from when she was given candy at church and other places.  She rounded up buckets from past Easters and made all the kids an Easter Bucket of their own.

It was a very sweet thing she did and it sticks with me every Easter.
4. My favourite Spring flower is there are so many.

Out here on the Texas Gulf Coast, we are treated to a bouquet of many different types of wildflowers.   I guess if I had to pick an absolute favorite it would have to be a flowering plum tree and/or dogwood tree.  I know technically they are not flowers.  They do have flowers though.

I think the bluebonnets are beautiful.  The Indian Blankets we saw this year
Blowflower© 2017 Suzanne G. McClendon
are amazing as well.  I think most flowers are very beautiful   Even those many called weeds.  Back in the day, the dandelion was on of my favorite flowers.  We called them “Blow Flowers” when they turned to seed.  My father, who loved his grass, would not agree so much.

We finally got some dandelions in our yard here in Texas.  I think Suzanne took their picture.

Well, have a great weekend.  So far, it looks like ours will be uneventful.  I don’t know of any thing we need to do or anyplace we need to go for a while.  Shoot, right now, as long as the food holds out, we should not need to leave the yard.

  1. One thing that I remember about church on Easter Sunday when I was a little girl was the huge hats on the grown-up women. Some of them were very pretty, but it sure made it hard to see the preacher and the choir folks. :)
    I love you, my Zing!

    1. I remember sitting behind Mrs. W. She always wore those huge hats with fruit on them. She would move her head and the apples would shake. She was a nice lady. The kind of lady you think of when you think "church lady". I love you. Zing! Zing!

    1. Thank you. She is a sweet girl with a heart of gold, or should I say yellow since she is the Yellow Power Ranger now. See Suzanne's Instagram for details.

  3. You raised a lovely, kind daughter! In fact, i'll bet your whole family is like that, very generous. It's hard to pick one favorite flower, isn't it?

  4. As I said on Suzanne's blog, I miss bluebonnets and Blue Bell ice cream from when we lived in Texas. That is a very nice thing your daughter did for the kids for Easter. What a sweet memory.

    I love those wildflowers!

    Happy Easter!

    1. She was so young herself. It broke my heart and filled it with joy at the same time. She gave up her stuff for her siblings. Have a great Easter.

  5. Your older daughter did a great thing. It actually took me back to my childhood. I was the oldest girl and also had to be creative like that.
Vanilla Bean is a great ice cream. It allows for adding what you want, like fruits!
I hope you can find a church near you. There are so many down there. One of my favourite churches as a kid was a Baptist near Houston. They had a great young people's group. It is a wonderful thing to go to church, like vitamins for the soul.
It sounds like you are doing well, not even needing to leave home! *wink* Wishing you & Suz continued blessings. Happy Easter! He lives.

    1. Due to our health needs (frequent potty breaks), we watch a local church online. A preacher from back home has a Southern Baptist Church about 35 miles from here and maybe we will get to see him someday. I have emailed him and even left a message for him at the church and have not heard back. Have a great Easter.
