We were sent a Mactrem Papuma PT-55 Tripod for the purposes of writing a review. Obviously, one must actually have the product and put it through its paces before one can write an accurate review.
In order to evaluate any product, we have to determine if the product is worth the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Currently this Mactrem Papuma PT-55 Tripod is selling for $45.99.
In order to compare apples to apples, one must compare the Mactrem Papuma PT-55 Tripod to other tripods in that price range. One can surely buy a much better tripod. But, one must expect to pay more for it than the $45.99 price tag. A studio quality tripod can easily cost over $500.
When we first took the Mactrem Papuma PT-55 Tripod out of the box, we noted how small the tripod is. It is very lightweight and compact. If one is looking for an inexpensive tripod that is compact and lightweight, the Mactrem Papuma PT-55 Tripod is definitely the one.
There is an old saying that goes, “You get what you pay for.” You get a basic tripod that is reasonable quality for your money.
Here at McClendon Studios and McClendon Photography, we use many different tripods. Most of the tripods we use are “Studio Quality” The Mactrem Papuma PT-55 Tripod is not a studio quality tripod.
The crank to raise the center column is on the flimsy side. When we first tried to crank it up, it did not want to move, in either direction. It took some gentle persuasion to get it to turn the first time.
Apples to apples, price to for price, the Mactrem Papuma PT-55 Tripod is a definite bargain. Again, this is not a studio quality tripod.
