What is something that people are obsessed with but you just don’t get the point of?
Television. It seems that every small store these days, and many restaurants, have televisions everywhere. We were helping a friend with his small convenience store. The friend had a television installed in the store. We chose to leave it turned off when we were there.
The entire idea behind a convenience store is to get in and out of the store as quickly as possible. Why would people need a television?
We had many people ask why we did not have the television turned on. We put on a channel that was playing Christmas music and still photos. We got no further complaints. It seems that it only mattered that it was turned on, not what was playing.
What quirky things do people do where you are from?
It is hot here in Gulf Coast Texas. Right after we first moved here, we had a cold snap. The temperature dropped into the 70s. We went to the grocery store where we saw people dressed with stocking caps, fur-lined gloves, heavy sweaters, fur-lined snow boots, heavy coats,... and shorts! It seems that their legs won’t get cold, but the rest of them will.
One of our friends owns a convenience store that has been in business about thirty years. The store has no heater at all. When we moved into our house, there was no heater either. We did not know this for two years.
What are some things you wish you could unlearn?
I wish that I could unlearn how mean people can be. Family will do things to you that no one else would.
Who is someone that you miss having in your life?
The list is long. Both Suzanne’s father and mine. They both died way too young. All of our grandparents. Adopted grandparents, too.
Our boys that have gone off into the service. The Marine calls or texts every once in awhile. He used to Skype, but we can’t do that anymore because the laptop crashed and this computer does not have a webcam. We can not afford a webcam or a new computer.
Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
This week we had a lot of same-o same-o. I am glad that our youngest daughter got to call on Father’s Day. I am also glad that our Marine called, but we could not hear him due to a terrible connection. Our oldest daughter is home with us, so it was nice having her here for Father’s Day.
Next week promises to be more of the same-o same-o again. But, that is better than drama.
By the way, don’t forget next Monday, in honor of our baby’s child’s birthday, all three of our books will be free again. In the meantime, check out our t-shirts.
Our daddies was the first thought that came to my mind, too. It seems like just yesterday, yet a lifetime ago, that we were with them. I love you, my Zing.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem like forever and just yesterday. I love you, too, my Zing.
DeleteWhen it is in the 70's around here, it is practically a heat wave. I am glad you had contact with most of your kids for Father's Day, sorry they couldn't all be home though.
ReplyDeleteI don't know that we could survive having them all under one roof again. It would be fun to try though. We really don't consider it hot here until it crosses the 100 mark. It did that back in February. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteThanks so much for sharing this week.
