Green Eggs and Ham. My father read it to me when I was young. I learned to read it very early, too. Then, I read it to our kids. Little Maggie liked to sit in my lap and turn the pages as I read. The only problem was she would turn it before I had read all the page. And, she would turn pages in both directions.
Out of self-preservation, I memorized Green Eggs and Ham. I also learned it backwards.
One time we were waiting at the dentist’s office and Maggie had me read the dentist’s copy of Green Eggs and Ham to her. Well, I get a little animated sometimes. I was reading it with lots of feeling. When I finished it, I looked up and there was the dentist and his whole staff standing there listening to me read it. They clapped.
