Book Review: Lowcountry Bonfire by Susan M. Boyer

One of the great things about The Liz Talbot mysteries is that throughout most of the book you either suspect everyone or no one.  In the case of Lowcountry Bonfire, one wonders who else is there that could have done it.

We have a victim who, from all indications, was liked by everyone who knew him.  But is that true? What is true?

We also have a very loveable cast of characters that we just can’t help but fall in love with.  Some are funny and quirky, while others are loving and caring.  You will fall in love with them, too.

As always, Boyer shares some interesting Southern quirks.  Mama always serves up a feast and in Lowcountry Bonfire she does herself proud.  There are even tomato sandwiches made with white bread and that good Duke’s Mayonnaise.

In the South, many Southern women share recipes that list Duke’s as an ingredient.  Any Southern woman will know that Duke’s is the only mayonnaise there is.

This book is the last in the original series of six.  It is well-written and enjoyable.  We are hoping that there will be more. We give Lowcountry Bonfire all five stars and throw in a tomato sandwich to boot.
