Wednesday Hodgepodge 16 August 2017

1. Do your actions match your words? Elaborate.

I would like to think so, but not always.  Sometimes I find myself in a “Do what I say, don’t do what I do” situation.  I don’t like that.

Normally though, I try to have my actions and words match.  Suzanne and I are very conservative, fundamental Christians.  We try to make sure we stay that way.

One thing we do is try not to promote any product that does not meet our beliefs.

2. Sick as a dog, go to the dogs, dog days of summer, dog tired, it's a dog's life, every dog has it's day, can't teach an old dog new tricks...now doggone it which saying could most recently be applied to your life?

With a heat index of only 104, we are not quite yet at the Dog Days of Summer point.  Dog tired will often work for us.  For me, just going out to buy groceries is a tiring adventure.

3. Your favorite book featuring a dog in the storyline? What makes it a favorite?

I don’t know, there are so many.  The first one that comes to mind is Harry The Dirty Dog from back in my childhood.  Since we have started writing so many book reviews recently, it is impossible to keep up with all of the new ones.  I think one of them had a dog in the title.

4. What's something you hope to one day have the confidence to do?

I really can’t think of anything that I WANT to do that I don’t have the confidence to do.  I don’t want to skydive.  I don’t want to climb a mountain.  I don’t want to scuba dive.

I don’t mind public speaking; in fact, I kinda like it.

5. August 16th is National Tell a Joke Day. So tell us a joke.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

As the parents of two active duty military men, this whole thing with North Korea has us concerned.  Please keep our country in your prayers.

If you would like for me to pray for you, please drop me an e-mail by clicking prayer.

  1. Grocery shopping is very tiring for me, too, on many levels.

I remember Harry the Dirty Dog.

I think that skydiving would be exhilarating. I would love to be able to scuba dive just so that I could go down into Lake Hartwell to see my family's plantation house (Harrisburg Plantation) that got covered when they flooded the area for the lake. I will never be brave enough to do either of those things. BUT I am plenty brave enough to ride on a boat out to that island in the lake so that I can see the plantation's cemetery!

    I love you, my Zing.

  2. I agree with your answer to #4 except I hate public speaking! (But do not particularly WANT to do it either.) These are definitely worrying times. I pray that sanity will prevail.

    1. As I understand it, the fear of public speaking is at the top for most people. I have done it many times. It ain't for most people.

  3. I like to grocery shop. It gets me out of the house.
I have never heard of Harry the dirty Dog, but will have to look it up.
Japan has me concerned also. A scary time. There are and will be prayers.

    1. We try to get all of our grocery shopping in just two or three days each month. It is too darn hot here to go outside, so we try to stay in. Harry the Dirty Dog is a great kids book.

  4. I will keep your family members in my prayers. My son-in-law is in the Army, a dr. not a soldier, but they get deployed too so always a concern.

    1. Yes, doctors are often in the thick of things. Suzanne's brother worked in a hospital in a forward position and he got injured during a raid. No one knows exactly what happened.

  5. I think I'd like to be more confidant to do public speaking and skydiving.

    1. I understand that. I, however, won't be jumping out of any planes any time soon.

  6. Thank you for the shout out Hammie! That was a very pleasant surprise for your Auntie.:)
I enjoyed these answers. I remember Harry the Dirty Dog too. A great book and movie about a dog is My Dog Skip, Marley and Me was good too.

  7. I just saw the Hammie Show. At the risk of being too critical, your ventriloquist skills need work. Not only did I see your lips move I also saw you moving the Skull's jaw. With respect to Question #1 I don't believe there's anyone whose actions follow their words all of the time. I would be suspicious of anyone who asserted that their actions did. Have a great week.

    1. I understand what you are saying. However, it isn't meant to be ventriloquism. It is just a redneck messing around and goofing off. It all started as a way to find the start and finish between takes on other videos. Then, I got to posting them on the end of videos. Finally, Hammie show was born. Thanks for the suggestion.

  8. Keeping your boys in my prayers. ((Hugs))
