Here are the fill-ins:

1. If I was a ghost, I would haunt my kids.

My kids would probably not listen to me then, either.  I would try to lead them in what I thought to be the right direction and scare away the bad things.

2. I always praise God when He provides for our needs.

I actually wish I could use the word “Always”.  The truth is, I try.   God is so good to us.  He provides for food on the table and shelter and utilities.  What more could anyone ask?  But, He does so much more for us.

3. My favourite scary story is the golden arm, the hook, and the ring.

I said that but one of my favorites is “Crybaby Bridge”.  Suzanne gave it a new twist and called it Green Bridge, which is its real name. I read it on a YouTube video years ago.   Carl the Ghost is funny, not scary.

4. I will be so glad when we are able to rid the world of stupid people.

Just yesterday, Suzanne and I had to travel to Sugar Land, Texas.  Texas people are some of the nicest, friendliest people you will ever meet.  That is until they get behind the wheel of a vehicle.  Then it is like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

We often see people passing with oncoming traffic coming in the lane they are using to pass.  We see passing on curves, on hills, on bridges, sometimes all of these are in the same place.

It is amazing that more people aren’t killed.  I guess this makes sense, because in Texas more of the written driving test is about how long you will lose your driver’s license for each drunk driving offense and practically none on things like traffic laws.  You almost never see bicycles traveling with traffic.  Most likely you will see people riding their bikes against the traffic flow.

Once they are at their destination, they are back to the slow, easy going way of life.  In Texas we don’t have a points system of offenses.  If you are caught driving 50 miles over the speed limit, there is a pretty hefty fine, but no other punishment.  You will never lose your license in Texas unless you are convicted of drunk driving or you are old.

The first day we drove in Rosenberg, Texas, after we moved out here we witnessed the strangest thing.   A truck pulled up to a red light and then proceeded to turn right on red.  Now, lots of places allow you to turn right on red after you have stopped for the red light and made sure nothing is coming.

This guy turned right on red from the left hand turn lane, across four other lanes of traffic, with oncoming traffic.

We have seen police conducting a hard, fast U-turn in a school zone and then speed at least twice the posted speed limit just to catch someone with an expired inspection sticker.  This is a sad state of affairs.

We finally got that mailbox up.  It is probably the most convoluted mailbox installation anyone has ever seen.  However, we did see one very nice thing happen.  I was sitting in the ditch in front of our house leveling a form for the concrete to go around the mailbox post.

The head of the city water department was driving down a nearby street and noticed me in the ditch.  He conducted a U-turn, after turning on his yellow light bar.  Then, he drove up to me and asked if I was alright.  He got on his radio and cancelled the 911 call he had made while coming to my aid.  You just don’t see service like that anymore.

By the way, this guy is the first person we met here in Wharton, Texas.  As we were moving in, he came to our door to show me where the water meter is located in our yard and to tell me how to turn it off.

He said, “I know you think you know where your water meter is, but you don’t.”  He was right, I did think I knew and I was wrong.  He knew I would have a question about it, probably at a time I did not need to be looking for it.  He told me he knew I would have that question because everyone did.  It is actually located in our backyard.  However, there is a service box in the front yard.  It is odd, but it works.

Well, enough of my ranting.  Have a blessed week.

    1. You are right, it is all me. I have a standard template set up and I take off the parts I don't need. I forgot to take that off. Thanks for commenting. Have blessed week.

  3. Thank you for participating, great answers. I though Mass. drivers were bad, but I guess your state has us beat. In Mass., if you get a ticket for anything, it makes your insurance go up for 6 years. Have a nice weekend!

    1. Thank you for stopping by and commenting, Ellen. Insurance does go up here. That doesn't seem to change things. Texas drivers can even make installment payments on huge fines if they talk to the judge. Fines for non-moving violations start around $180. Have a blessed week.

  4. Your story about the truck driver turning right from the left hand lane made me wonder if he's from Australia, as in Melbourne they actually have intersections where you have to turn right from the far left - it's a very freaky feeling if you're in the vehicle.
The drivers in Texas sound terrible, and could probably compete with drivers in the middle east as they're the worst that I've seen.
    Have a good day.

    1. Drivers from other places probably are scary. Here in Texas we have drivers that drive huge things like oversize SUVs. Add big to stupid and you get a scary combination.
