Our daughter Maggie has a new blog for her furbaby Martha. You can find it at: https://marthasdailymews.wordpress.com/
Here are the fill-ins:
1. Fireworks are a lot of fun and make lots of noise.
When I was younger, I took a lot of risks with fireworks. I would hold bottle rockets in my hand until they were ready to launch and then throw them.
Once Suzanne, my brother, and I were shooting fireworks off and the neighbor lady complained. She had every right to do so because we were upsetting her many, many dogs.
After she came out and fussed up a storm, my father, who had been sitting in the shadows of the front porch, unbeknownst to us, said “Can you get one on her front porch?”
I could, and I did. I launched one onto her front porch and into her flower pot. The flower pot caught fire and out she came. I am not proud of this, but I was at the time.
2. My favorite 4th of July picnic food is tater salet.
Yes, I know it is potato salad. In the real South, real Southerners pronounce it the way I spelled it. I also like any kind of barbeque. Here in Texas, if you say I am going to barbeque steaks, hot dogs, hamburgers, etc., they take your grill away from you. You grill those things. Most people disagree on what is true barbeque, but the overwhelming consensus is that barbeque is the very slow roasting of meat.
3. I begin every day with I would like to say Bible reading and prayer.
I would like to say that, but that would be a lie. My goal is to start it out with Bible reading and prayer, but then stuff happens. The dog needs attention. Food needs to be eaten (I take that job seriously).
4. Home baked bread is the best thing since sliced bread.
There are so many things that could go here. Suzanne, insulin, Netflix, Pixar, air conditioning, and so much more.
Have a great week, y’all.

The flower pot incident did seem funny at the time, but not for long. These days, I'm pretty ashamed of our behavior back then. It could have burned down that woman's house.
ReplyDeleteI love you, my Zing.
Yes, it could have burned it down. I am not proud of that either. I love you, my Zing!
DeleteThank you for joining in on the Friendly Fill-Ins! My uncles have a lot of similar stories revolving around fireworks. I won't lie, I get nervous even just listening to those tales! Now I am really craving potato salad. That is a favorite of mine as well. And I also try to begin every day with prayer. I'm ashamed to say I often fail at that. Any and all of the thing you mentioned in #4 would have been perfect answers. Netflix is one I can really relate to. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteWith a wind chill factor of 105 right now, I would have to say A/C is definitely in the top ten.
DeleteThank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. You sound like my hubby used to be with fireworks, always taking risks. Luckily, no one ever got hurt. I love tater salad and grilled foods, bbq, not so much. Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you just have not had the right kind of bbq. Perhaps take a little pork roast and cook it on low in a slow cooker. Baste it with a little KC Masterpiece Original sauce from time to time. When it is fall apart tender, take it out, smother it in sauce, chow down. Remember, if you don't get it in your ears, you didn't enjoy it.
DeleteWow, you are lucky no one ever got hurt when you were playing with fireworks. My dad used to talk about how he messed around with fireworks when he was a kid. He was lucky too! And I think tater salet is the best thing since sliced bread! :)
ReplyDeleteI used to give my guardian angel a workout all the time. Have a blessed week.
DeleteFireworks are definitely loud. They tend to scare me so I keep my distance. Hope you have a great 4th!
