Our Christian lives are very much like a journey on a boat. We set sail with a lot of other passengers from different places with different backgrounds. We all intend to head in the same direction since the destination is the same.

Sometimes our lives get a little off course.  Maybe slightly or maybe by a large margin. That is when a glimpse at the compass is helpful in getting us back on the right course.  

Jesus at Work: A Call to the People of God by Peter J. Blackburn can very well be that compass.  In this work, the author gives us some strong scripture background to help us see where we are supposed to be going.

We are reminded that no matter what denomination we are, we all have the same destination in mind. It appears that some denominations don’t even mention fried chicken and biscuits or dinner on the grounds in their basic tenets.  As a Southern Baptist, I find this hard to believe, but it is true.

All joking aside, Jesus at Work is very well-written, very scripturally-based, and easy to read.  I didn’t even need an English-to-Redneck dictionary to read it. We give it all five stars.  We think this would make a great addition to your church library and would also make a great small group Bible study guide.  You will want to buy at least two copies of this book, one to keep and one to share. Or, buy two and share both.
