Here are the fill-ins:
1. I can’t wait to have anything Suzanne cooks on Thanksgiving ( if not in the USA, substitute your next holiday).
This year it is just going to be Suzanne and myself at home for Thanksgiving. We will have whatever she fixes. No matter what, it will be great.
2. I am thankful for my family-.
I only know what one of our children will be doing this year for Thanksgiving. Suzanne and I are thankful for them. We are thankful for food on the table, a roof over our heads, and that we don’t live in Kansas City, Missouri.
As we understand it, city officials poured bleach over food so that homeless people could not eat it because the people providing the food did not have a food permit.
Kansas City, Missouri, once was a great place to hold conventions with the Hallmark Crown Plaza. Shouldn’t all businesses that would be holding conventions there pull out?
3. When it comes to pie, that is a long story but, I don’t mind tellin’ it.
When I was growing up, every year my Granny-For-Short made all kinds of pies. There would always be pecan pie. I could look at pecan pie and tell I would not like it. So, I never ate one, until one day I was working at Kell-Co Grocery Store in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The ONLY thing there was to eat in the store without having to open a can or cook it was those little 2 for $1 Lance pecan pies. I was starving so I bought one. It was good.
I thought, “If these robot-made pecan pies are so good, how much better must Granny-For-Short’s be?
I also love me some egg custard pie, peach pie, apple pie, you name it.
4. A feast is not a feast without the one you love the most.
A feast should have turkey, dressing, green bean casserole, squash casserole, ham, cranberry sauce, macaroni pie, deviled eggs, rolls, and dessert.
We hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving. Stay out of the stores. Why reward big retail for taking away our holiday?
Have a blessed week, y’all.
I hope that we can stay out of the stores. I'd be happy to never go into one again!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to our Thanksgiving dinner, too. At least we have each other. I love you, my Zing.
I look forward to it, as well. I love you, my Zing!
DeleteThank you for joining in on the Friendly Fill-Ins! As a huge fan of pecan pie, I really enjoyed your story about it. I also love pumpkin pie, apple pie, chocolate pudding pie, and well, pie. Wishing you and your entire family a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteWe love pie here, too. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, too.
DeleteThank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I want to know what macaroni pie is? I have never had pecan pie, I should try it because I love pecans. I know Suzanne will cook you a feast. I had not heard that about Missouri, that is awful. Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Ellen,
DeleteHere is a link to a macaroni pie recipe. It also has a picture. Southern Macaroni Pie.
Have a blessed weekend!
Macaroni pie is one of those pies that you would not call pie if you saw it. There are all sorts of recipes on line for it. Some people make it in a crackpot. It is sort of like a deluxe version of Mac and Cheese. We may make a video on it soon over at From the Kitchen of McClendon Villa. Have a happy and blessed Thanksgiving.
DeleteI can't believe they poured bleach over edible food...
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to pie, I love almost every kind, but it has to be handmade.
Have a blesses weeek!
We live in a very stupid world. There are cities, like Houston, that make it a crime to help a homeless person. I like just about any kind of pie, except sweet potato. I am allergic to sweet potatoes. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and a blessed week.
DeleteWhoa! Didn't know that about KC. I hope they don't pour bleach over homeless cats' food too. My peeps refuse to go shopping on Thanksgiving and Christmas or any holiday. Great answers. TW has never had pecan pie cos she's not supposed to eat nuts but, like you once did, doesn't think it looks appealing.
ReplyDeleteOur Female Human always says we should be thankful for everything God provides and not focus on what has not been provided. Life is much happier that way!
