Friendly Fill Ins Friday 22 July 2016

Friendly Fill-Ins Friday 22-July 2016
Friday_Fill-In_Badge

People, it is time once again for the Friendly Fill-Ins.  This meme is a great way to get inspired to
write other posts along with this one.  Come on and join the fun.  No, really, I promise, you don’t really have to own a cat to participate.  Most people don’t own a cat.  Most of us are owned by cats.  Currently, my child-bride Suzanne and I don’t own any inside cats.  There are four of them that live outside and wait for Suzanne or our daughter to bring them food.  But, no cat is required.

If you are wondering why I say no cat is required, it is because there are so many cute kitties who participate in this meme. One cat peed on his mommy’s hair this week.  And another cat loves to swim and surf, how cool is that?

1. I wish I could afford to hire someone to build us a new house. Our house is okay. It is just in the city with neighbors who are way too close to us.  The neighbors smoke like we live in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, or someplace like that.

2. Zucchini  Squash.  Back when we lived in South Carolina, we had a garden and could eat this stuff all summer long from just two plants. We had nine people living in the house at that time.  We can’t get anything to grow out here.  There is way too much shade in this yard to grow anything.  Even the freaking dandelions won’t grow.

3. One Summertime memory I recall going camping.  My father found an old trailer frame somewhere and he brought it home to the house.  We fixed it up and made it look sort of like a doghouse.  My mom painted pictures of Snoopy and the Red Baron on the trailer and made it look more like a doghouse.  We used that trailer to store a tent and other camping supplies and we camped multiple times for a couple of summers. This was a lot of fun.  Then, we moved to Iva, South Carolina, and opened a Western Auto store and never camped out again.

4. This Summer, it is way too hot.  I don’t go out much since I had the strokes. Mostly, I just sit in our room and type on the computer.  We put the studio where I record in the room, too, so I don’t have far to walk. Mostly, I have been reworking the introductions to videos I had already uploaded.

I am an accountant by training, so I pay very close attention to the numbers.  I notice that the numbers indicated that the introductions were too long.  So, I shortened each introduction to 3 seconds.

We have set a Great Big Hairy Audacious Goal of reaching 1,000 YouTube subscribers by August 31.  Will you help us?  Please watch the video above and see if you might like to subscribe.  Please also tell us what we could do to make the channel better.  Also, please help us spread the word.

  1. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, I always enjoy your answers. I wish you had a photo of that camper, it sounds really cool. I am sorry you can't grown anything in your yard. If you have any area with sun, you could grow it in a big plastic tub, that is how we grow ours. I will spread the word about your youtube channel- good luck! I still have to watch your latest video from yesterday. Have a great weekend!

    1. Thanks for stopping by. We are hoping that something will grow now that we had our friend Eric trim the trees. Suzanne tried to grow tomatoes in pots on the patio. They grew fine, but still have yet to produce a single blossom.

  2. David, I really love how you do the videos. I really believe that God does present us with situations. I believe that my ability to bottle feed kittens (bunnies, etc.) is a God-given gift. I pray over each one, in fact. So, yes, I think that God gave you those kittens.

I want a house, but an old one in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I am researching that.
Our zucchini is getting ready to be harvested. Yum! It is definitely prolific! I loved camping, as a kid. We used to go to Galveston and Texas City Dike. I loved those times! I will have to share those memories in the future. Thanks for reminding me.

Oh, this Summer is way too hot. We are in a heat wave, too. It is in the nineties, and will stay there for several days. That is not normal for us, here in the Great Lakes. *augh*

Stay cool and hydrated. Have a great weekend! Thanks for being a part of Friendly Fill-Ins. I subscribed to your videos, too. Annie at ~McGuffy's Reader~

    1. Thank you for subscribing to our videos. It is only 99 here right now, which is cool for us. Camping was one of those things that was always better as a memory than in the actual camping part. The bugs, and ticks, as well as the outhouses, seem better as memories than they did at the time. Have a great weekend.

  3. Having neighbors too close - especially smoking ones - is not fun. Then if those neighbors are also into muscle cars and revving their engines at all hours of the day and night, double-whammy. In other words, I don't miss our old neighbors in PA since moving back to Washington State. ;) I feel for you!!

I think I'll have to revisit my avoidance of zucchini - seems everyone except me loves the stuff! :)

I love that your mom painted Snoopy and the Red Baron on the trailer you guys fixed up - how cool would that be to see camping?! Such a bummer the camping stopped after you guys moved, though.

I keep hearing how hot the weather has been out that way - makes me so glad we moved back to my home state, since it's rare that it ever gets that hot here, and there isn't as much rain as people think there is. ;) Not to mention no humidity but maybe a few days total a year. I do not miss the humidity!! :) Hope you get a cool down soon! Have a great weekend! :)

    1. The only real problem we have with our neighbors is that they smoke constantly so we can't go out in the yard. Suzanne has COPD, so it gets really bad for her. Our neighbors mow our grass for us, which is very nice, this is Texas. Have a great weekend.
