Share Your World 10 April 2017

Have you ever participated in a distance walking, swimming, running, or biking event? Tell your story.

Yes and no.  Back in the day, I worked as a volunteer first aid instructor for The American Red Cross.  I taught first aid and CPR.  I also was an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

The March of Dimes was having a Super Walk to raise money.  If I had known that the primary way they would prevent birth defects is by funding abortion, I would not have participated.

I was not a walker.  I manned a check station with two boys from Wofford College.  They were assigned to check everyone off as they passed through the check station.

I was the first aid person.  I had a really basic first aid kit which was okay because I had Bird-2 with me, which is what I had named my car.  In Bird-2, I had enough first aid supplies to make Johnny Gage and Roy Desoto drool.

Other than a few of the walkers needing a few bandaids, I did not have anything to do.  We were out of the communication loop.  No radio, no telephone, there were no cell phones back then.  If something had happened, I would have had to teach the two Wofford students on the fly and get someone to run and call an ambulance.

Name one thing not many people know about you.

My life is an open book.  I pretty much tell everything about me on this blog.  If you have read this blog regularly, you know that I am married to my beautiful child-bride Suzanne and we have four living children.

We are as poor as Joe’s turkey, but we get by.   I have been in a womanless wedding as the jilted boyfriend.  I have been in a womanless beauty contest, and did not win.

Our family is a very strong Military family.  On both sides of our family, everyone who was healthy enough to serve did so.

I have never ridden a bull, but I have had to patch up literally hundreds of people who have.  In the line of ambulance duty, I have had to fight my way out of several redneck bars.  We always tried to talk our way out, which usually worked.

What is your favorite flower?

Lily, because Suzanne means lily.  It is a beautiful flower and Suzanne is a
beautiful woman.  I also like azaleas if they have not been beat to death by the rain.

I really love flowering plum trees and dogwood flowers.

Things I want to have in my home (paintings, hot tubs, book cases, big screen tv etc)

Book cases.  We can always use more book cases.  I built two of them.  We still have one of them.  The other one we gave to a friend.  When I build something, I am going for strength and not so much beauty. I got pretty close to both on the book cases.

We don’t watch television all that much.  From time to time, someone will send us a DVD to review and we will play it on the television.  Pretty much anything we want to watch is on the computer anyway.  We don’t have cable or satellite service.  It costs more than it is worth.  We get lots of movies free with Amazon Prime, which we can watch on the TV via the Roku if we want.

A hot tub would be nice.  Suzanne would like to put photographs on the wall.  I would like that, too.  We are just really limited on wall space that we can hang pictures on because there is not one single stud in this house where it is supposed to be .

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

For the most part, this past week has been uneventful.  That is what we need, uneventful.  Suzanne and I went to buy a few groceries and that has been about it.  I am thankful for uneventful.  I like the days when I don’t have to go out.  I like the days when the only reason we have to dress is to go outside to walk our grand-dogger.

So far this week, the only thing we had to go out for was to meet with a couple of associates.  We can’t really call them friends because we don’t know them that well.  Suzanne has found some new relatives on both sides of the family, which is cool.

This coming week, I am looking forward to some more uneventful days.  We have books to review coming in almost everyday.  I love doing this.  Suzanne procures the books and other products and we both read the books or try out the products.  We write the reviews and, if the product is good enough, I make a video of it.  You will notice you almost never see a video on our site where the product did not get a five star review.  That is because the product has to be worth our time to spend several days making the video for it.

I am thankful for my beautiful child-bride Suzanne and the non-profit profit business we have.  It was not meant to be that way, but that is the way it is working out.

Back in the day, at McClendon’s Western Auto, we had a sign that said something to that effect.  It read

Welcome to McClendon’s Western Auto.
We are a non-profit organization.
It was not meant to be that way,
But that is how it is working out.

Speaking of Non-profit organizations, you could really really help us out if you would go to our YouTube channel and Subscribe.  If we make it to 1,000 subscribers, YouTube will do more to promote our channel.  If you would, please, watch a few of our videos and let the advertisements play.  On some of the videos, we have placed a little comic relief at the end.

We thank you for helping our family out.

And last, but not least, we have found a program that will pay for Suzanne’s eye surgery when the cataracts are ripe. We still need to raise a little more money to help with the transportation, prescriptions, and seeing her regular doctor to make sure she is well enough for the surgery when the time comes.  And you can help just by watching our YouTube videos and watching the advertisements.

We would like to ask everyone to please watch the video below as our way of saying thank you to the people who funded the surgery.

If you would like for me to pray for you, please drop me an e-mail by clicking prayer.

    1. I would agree. Those days when we can say same-o same-o about our day are good days.
