Wednesday Hodgepodge 24 May 2017

1. What color is prominent in your home? Are you glad about that or wishing you could cover it up or remove it?

I think most of the walls are an off white.  I don’t care one way or the other.  I think Suzanne would like to paint them.  They have a texture to them so this would be a pain to change.

2. What's something you'll NEVER do again?

This one is easy.  Back when I was a teenager, I went snow skiing.  If you have ever seen Goofy from Disney skiing, you have seen me.  I looked like a giant snowball coming down the mountain.  I was on the baby slope.

I would fal,l and then get up, and kept falling.  Finally, I prayed, “God, if you will get me to the bottom of this mountain in one piece, I will never get back on a pair of skis again.” He kept his part of the bargain and I kept mine.

3. Tell us a couple of ways you fit the stereotypes associated with your gender, and a couple of ways you don't.

In the show Coach, Stuart, a little wimp, talks about being about 51% male and 49% female.  Coach says he is in the high 90s.  I think I would be, too.

I used to do a lot of projects around the house, not near as many as I should have.  I used to love to garden and watch the tomatoes and the corn grow.

I have been in many of the hand squeezing contests like in the movie The Quiet Man, where men shake hands and try to squeeze the other guy's hand as hard as possible.  I got kicked out of the hospital last May because of that.

4. May is Motorcycle Awareness Month. Have you ever owned a motorcycle? Ever ridden a motorcycle? If the opportunity presented itself would you hop on a motorcycle and go for a ride?

I have never owned one.  I have been on two.  Both when I was much younger and braver.  If the opportunity came up, I would pass. About this time last year, an old associate of mine and his wife died while on the way home from a motorcycle safety event.

5. If someone wanted to understand you, what should they read, watch, and listen to?

I really don’t think I can be understood.  I don’t understand myself sometimes.  But, I think a few of the video stories on my YouTube Channel would do it.  If you watch the video bloody worms all the way until Hamlet says, “ Bye”and a few of the others, you will understand me a little better.

Like most of us here, I think if we read one another’s blogs, we will understand each other a little better.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.

I would like to thank everyone who has helped this week with this problem.

A while back we reviewed a book called Crazy Stressed.  It was written by a man who is supposed to be a professional.  He emphasized that parents should be careful how they act around their kids because kids learn more by watching what we do and listening to what we say than they do by what we tell them. I believe that to be true.

However, in this book, he uses God’s name as a swear word four times and he uses quite a few other profane words.  I felt this was unprofessional and contrary to what he said. I explained the reasoning and marked the book down two stars because of it.

The result: people are marking the review as “unhelpful”.  This means our Amazon reviewer ranking drops.  We need to get it back up ASAP.  If you would please, go to Amazon and read the review.  If you think it is helpful, please vote “Yes”.  If you don’t think it is helpful, follow your conscience and vote accordingly. https://www.amazon.com/review/R30MZYA81UHI81/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm

I thank you in advance for your help,  Have a great day.

  1. Always nice to learn more about you. I never went downhill skiing, but I had a similar experience at cross country skiing.

  2. Hmmm...what's the point of reviewing if they all have to be positive? Hope you get this sorted soon. I most likely will not snow ski anymore either. I'm too fragile : )

    1. Thank you. The only way to sort this out is to get more helpful votes than not helpful votes. So far the not helpful votes are in the lead. We need more helpfuls. We are hoping that enough people will see the review and vote helpful for us. Have a great day.

  3. You think right. Suzanne would like to paint them...or have them painted. I want the bumpies off and a new, flat paint on these walls. Love you, my Zing. :)

  4. I like white walls everywhere. We just painted, for the first time in 9 years being in this house, the two front bedrooms. We ended up putting a contrast color on one wall. Did something similar years ago skiing. Don't plan on doing that again either.
