1. I have never been able to make a long story short.

You all know me.  I can’t say anything in just a few words. I have to drag things out.  I think it has something to do with being kin to the late Senator Strom Thurmond.  He held the record for the longest filibuster in the senate.  He talked continuously for several days. I could probably do that if I could work out that whole going to the potty thing.

2. I wish I could still do just about anything.

My mind is still nineteen years old.  My body is about ninety.  I wish I could still see.  I wish that I could still walk.  I also wish that I could still talk to those we love who have gone on.

3.  A cold night with a fire in the fireplace is my ideal winter night.

A nice romantic fire in the fireplace, which we don’t have, and a cup of hot chocolate with my beautiful child bride Suzanne by my side would be the perfect cold winter night. It would be perfect as long as there was no one else involved.  Over this last month and a little more, we have had a constant parade of people 24/7.

4. Peanut Butter and jelly.

If I am a really good boy here at the home and take my therapy, at night they give me ½ a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a cup of grape juice, and animal crackers.  This is really true.

I really could not get my mind around number 4.  We have had a lot going on.  We lost our YouTube partnership in part because we have not been able to work it like we have to in order to keep our watch time up.  We did not make it to the 1,000 subscribers we have to have yet either.

If you have a chance, please play some of my videos.  You can let them play in the background with the sound off if you like.  If you need subscribers and I am not already subscribed to your channel, let me know how to get to your channel and I will subscribe.

We learned something really stupid recently.  I need a wheelchair so I can keep the weight off my feet.   Medicare won’t get me a wheelchair because I technically can walk.

But, if Medicare would get me a wheelchair, they would not buy it because it qualifies as durable medical goods.  This means that they last a while.  Some people only need a wheelchair for a short period of time and end up selling them at yard sales, etc.

The thing is, Medicare will pay $600 per month to rent the same exact wheelchair that is available on Amazon for less than $200 to buy.  It seems that something is wrong here.

Well, we should get out of here on 23 January 2018.  From there, we will be back at Oakbend for wound care.

If you would like for me to pray for you, please drop me an e-mail by clicking prayer.

  1. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, I always enjoy your answers. I am sorry you lost the youtube sponsorship though, I would think they could cut you some slack given the situation. I think it is odd that the nursing home is giving a diabetic so much sweet stuff. I hope it doesn't mess up your blood sugar. I hope you can get a wheelchair.

    1. I think YouTube did this across the board. If you don't have 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch minutes a month, you can't be a partner.

I am on a regular diet, not a diabetic diet. This is the only way I can avoid cold fake eggs instead of cold real eggs. I don't eat the sweet stuff. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  2. It’s okay to never be able to cut a long story short. We wouldn’t have great novels if everyone cut everything short!

You are in my prayers that you get well soon.

    1. Thank you. I think it works okay in the videos. However, some people don't want to start a conversation that won't end for an hour or so.

  3. I am familiar with Strom Thurmond's 24 hour, 18 minute chat against the Civil Rights Act of 1957. I come from a long line of storytellers.
I know that Medicare has some odd rules about equipment and rental vs. purchase.
I agree with Ellen. Be careful with that diet. Bill's parents and brother were diabetic. My father and brother were/are. It can be difficult to manage. Get well soon.

    1. Thanks. I try my best to stick to the diet. Sometime sugar sneaks in anyway. Have a blessed week.
