Here are the fill-ins:
1. I just want one day where we don’t have to go anywhere or do anything.
It seems like we have to work harder now that we are retired than we ever did before. There is always something going on.
2. My next car will probably be bigger than this one.
Don’t get me wrong. I love Zoomie. He is fuel efficient and fun. But, he is just too small. We have gotten a load of two by fours in him before. We just need more room.
3. The sound of one of our kids calling my name makes me cringe.
They are never calling for something good. It is always something like the toilet overflowed or there is someone at the door. I hate to deal with people at the door. It is always some yahoo that wants to sell something I don’t want or need. Why can’t it be someone giving away a million dollars?
4. Right now, I am craving Shrimp cocktail.
I just finished reading a book where the author painted such a good word picture of the meal the main characters were eating that I could taste the shrimp cocktail. We can get fresh shrimp in our hometown if you want to buy it off the back of a beat up pickup truck.
Other than that, you would have to get a shrimp ring at the Walmart. I don’t know of any restaurants for 30 miles that sell shrimp cocktail. If we did have one, we could not afford it. We can’t even afford to pay attention.
Have a blessed week, y’all.

Yeah, retirement is way more exhausting than I ever imagined it would be!
ReplyDeleteI love you, my Zing!
More so on you than on me. I love you, my Zing!
DeleteThank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I am sorry you are always on the go. I am amazed you get so many at your door. The only ones we get are Jehovah's witnesses about once a year. I hope the toilet doesn't overflow often. Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteWe get the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Mormons. Mostly what we get are people wanting to do work for us. One guy wanted me to pay him to take ball moss out of our trees. He told me that it could kill my trees. I told him that I liked it and that it should stay. Ball moss is not parasitic. Have a blessed week.
DeleteOur parents are also quite busy even if they are retired, but mostly they have fun. But this mostly means traveling or helping with the grandchild, not taking care of overflowing toilets.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week.
We have been retired since I went blind in 1996. Since then it seems like there is always something to do. Have a blessed week.
DeleteThank you for joining in on the Friendly Fill-Ins! I know what you mean about there always being something going on. Though I always try to set aside weekends to relax even just a little, they always seem to end up infinitely busier than the workweek. And your answer to #3 has me thinking that I should have put the doorbell as my answer. I have a "no soliciting" sign on my door, and I'm starting to think that just attracts that sort of people even more. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteI learned when I was selling door-to-door, back in the day, that when you see a sign like "No Soliciting", "No Salesmen", etc., that is a sure sale. It tells people that the people inside do not know how to say "No". When I collected bills door-to-door, I learned that "No Trespassing" signs mean the person owes a lot of bills, but the squeaky wheel gets the grease. It was my job to be that squeaky wheel.
